Teavana 2012 Discontinued Teas
I just might go to the Heavenly sale, if I can manage to get over there early….don’t want to go to late, might be slim pickings.
What teas do you think are worth getting? And is it only teas or is hardware included too?
There’s some of both but mostly tea. Gyokuro is $5 for 2 oz, lots of stuff from $1.70 to $3.75 teawise, a couple teapots and sets.
Sakura allure is one of my favorites (let it be known though…I like fruity tea and green tea that doesn’t taste like green tea…)
Also, my morning mate and peachberry jasime. Amandine rose is another good one as well. And yes…I might have just ordered all of those!!
So the teas that they have on sale now, are those going to be discontinued for 2013?
Some of them are, some are probably just clearing the way for next year’s harvests (like the gyokuro and black pearls specified below), and then I’m assuming the ones that are teas that were just introduced this fall are because they aren’t selling well like that mango puerh mate disaster.
Hmm none of the teas that are showing up on sale on the mobile site are the discontinued ones. Some of them are actually their best sellers. The retired teas may just be in stores. Ooo Cha Yen Thai! I never did try Cocoa Carmel Sea Salt, but for $2… Edit: Went to the non-mobile site and the discontinued teas plus lots of merch are on there as well, but well over half of the teas on sale are staying.
WHAT?! Blasphemy! CocaCaramel is my fave herbal after Peach Tranquility. Tastes like homemade hot chocolate!
Daniel, you sir are bonkers! I might just have to follow you so I can keep track of any other favorites of yours to steer clear of! :)
I bought some of the CocoCaramel Sea Salt…looks like I’ll either love it, or hate it. LOL
lol I like it too! Make it in half milk, half water, and it’s very much like hot chocolate.
I also LOVE cococaramel sea salt, I ordered a pound of it the other day with the sale :) that and azteca fire!
REALLY?! So I’m the crazy one for not loving it? I tried, I really did, but it just seemed like a bunch of heavy candy pieces melted in hot water. I thought the azteca fire was alright. I still have some of their haute chocolate squirreled away and that was pretty good in milk.
My wife and I are drinking the Coco Caramel Sea Salt tonight. She likes it, and even though I’m not one for flavored-added teas, I have to say, although it’s a little lite on flavor, it is good.
Adding, milk? Well, we’ll just have to try that!
Not every tea that goes on sale right now is going to be discontinued — although I’m sure some of them will be. Gyokuro and Black Dragon Pearls, two of my favorites that I recommend, have been on sale before — as they are now — and not discontinued.
Oh save me! LOL I just ordered pounds of tea…anyone want to come for a party? LOL Could NOT resist 75% off on some of my favorites.
I have no clue where I am going to store the teas I’ve just ordered, so short on space here. I could NOT pass up the deals, though. Picked up some of my favorites, and some I’ve wanted to try for some time, but couldn’t justify the price on.
^Under the bed, couch or other furniture. In a closet. Inside the lining of chairs. Attic space during the winter. Air vents during the summer. Attach velcro on the tins and stick them on the underside of tables. Am I helping? ;)
They aren’t discontinuing earl grey creme are they?

But the list was for teas discontinued for 2012. Aren’t we due for a new list for 2013 or do they wait later in the year to release that info?
They discontinue once a year and list them in late summer, with the teas for the year coming into stores in early fall.
Yes and then they give away 2oz bags of what was opened in the big tins on the wall (to clear them out for the brw teas in the fall) when you spend x amount of money. Then the tea that was sealed in big bags in the back get packaged in tins and are sold starting the day after Christmas. Corporate will also send stores teas they have too much of. But yeah it’s just been once a year, Teavana isn’t very seasonal like other companies, though I think they are tip toeing toward it.
So even though I made an order online I still went in store to buy some tea. I was surprised they weren’t completely out of stock of some teas, yet. I even got my mom to cave and buy some tea with me, too.
Anyone know if they will honor the sale price for tea bought within the 90 day return period? So would they give me the difference of what I paid a month ago and what they have it on sale for? I should probably just call them, huh? :)
I would think so. As long as you did not originally purchase it on sale, can’t they just return it and rering it?
I’m pretty sure last year they told us within three months they would adjust the price.
I went in tonight and I’m sure glad that is over! The kid that was helping me said his manager told them to not reimburse the difference if a tea was bought before the sale, so I returned it instead along with two others and they had to trash it. The kid was not happy with me and stared me down while dumping the tea and then tried to sell me $20 gyokuro when I was asking to get some of the one on sale. Rang someone up in the middle of waiting on me, alternated being subtley snotty and civil and drug the whole process out to about a half hour. So all and all it was a usual visit to the store. :/
I hate having to be a bitch when sales people aren’t listening to what I’m saying I want and are trying to push crap on me.
I’m not surprised that they didn’t adjust the price, since it had been a month since you bought it. They really didn’t need to act the way they did, though. What teas did you wind up getting?
It was within the 90 day return period, so I thought they might adjust things. Oh well, their loss. I got some Gyokuro Gemaicha and Amandine Rose since I heard it was similar to the discontinued Almond Biscotti. I ordered some other teas online the other night and I don’t remember what all they are. It will be a surprise when it arrives.
Return period =/= price adjustment period, IME. The last place I worked had a 100% guarantee return policy, but the period for a price adjustment was a strict two weeks. When a store is already putting things on a large discount, they generally don’t want to take the added loss of adjusting stuff bought at full price.
