Do you drink every last drop?

I use relatively good strainers (either the ones built into my teapots and kyusuus or the mesh one I use when decanting tea from my gaiwans), but I still find tiny leaf particles in the bottom of my cup. Because of this, I leave anywhere from an 1/8 – 1/4 of an inch of tea in the cup when I am done drinking it because I can’t bring myself to tip up the cup and throw back that last little bit… I just can’t! However, I know some people who do… do you?

I do – because I strain it yet again when pouring into my cup. I use:

and it works great. Not a particle in my cup :) I use it when making french press coffee too.

When I drink puerh – I tend to drink it to the very last drop. It is a love affair with me and the golden pu. I pour my puerh into a small s/s tea pot with a strainer. Then, from there it is poured into a Yixang. It too has a small stainer…therefore, virtully no residual tea leave. I feel the little extra fibre won’t hurt me…I know it is not traditional but I have not been known to always follow traditions…

I’ve got absolutely no issues with drinking/eating tea leaf. I consider it the best part. I mean, when you’re drinking matcha it’s the same deal really. I always swirl the cup/mug/bowl to make sure I get as much particles as possible. Especially when I’m drinking green tea I find the “residue” quite tasty.

yup that’s me too, drink to the last half inch, then swirl

That’s what I don’t understand about myself… heh… I am perfectly fine with drinking matcha, which is basically consuming tea leaves. Plus, I see nothing wrong with others consuming other tea particles… it’s probably extremely healthy. I just can’t do it. It must be a visual thing – I can see the particles in my tea, whereas in matcha I don’t because it is so thick.

I usually do if the tea is still hot/warm. If the cup is cool though, I usually don’t drink up the last drops.

Normally I do unless the tea particles are large enough for me to feel them as I drink those last few sips. If they are, then I don’t drink them.
