Verdant Tea Taking Pre-Orders on 10lb Edition of Mrs. Li's Shi Feng Dragonwell
I never thought we would be able to bring in a Dragonwell that my extremely Laoshan-biased taste buds would recognize as stunning, but here I am.
My friend Mrs. Li invited me into her home in 2008 and showed my how she and her husband hand pick and process their little harvests on Lion’s Peak. She is the real deal. I finally worked up the nerve to ask her if she would spare ten pounds for me to share with tea lovers, and she agreed! Her Dragonwell is on the way, set to arrive by Friday September 14th at the latest.
So many Minneapolis locals who heard about this care package on the way have been trying to buy it all up, that I thought it was only fair to release it for pre-order to everyone at the same time and allow anyone truly interested in trying the tea reserve some. Mrs. Li is offering this at a “cultural exchange” price, about 30% of the average retail on Dragonwell in its league.
Check out the product page to see a video of Mrs. Li, read the full story, and click through the the linked article describing my last trip to her village: http://verdanttea.com/teas/mrs-lis-shi-feng-dragonwel-green-tea/
I can’t believe how many pre-orders we got in over the weekend. Right now less than half of the Draognwell is left from Mrs. Li, so definitely take a look if you are thinking of getting some. I have a shipment tracking page up with updates on where the Dragonwell is along its journey to your teacup: http://verdanttea.com/live-shipment-tracking/
The excitement over this Dragonwell only encourages me to seek out more limited offerings, knowing that I can afford to take a risk as big as buying up such an expensive crop. Actually I have a few fun ones on the way. More about that as soon as they arrive…
Awesome- the Dragonwell just cleared customs in New York. Everyone who pre-ordered should be getting it right on time.
My current numbers show that we have just about three pounds remaining (at 5:45 Wednesday CST). That means there is still a chance for about a dozen more people to try this tea. If there is any left when it arrives we will have it up for sale here: http://verdanttea.com/teas/mrs-lis-shi-feng-dragonwel-green-tea/
Dragonwell is one of my most favorite green teas, I love it so much I included in some lyrics on one of my songs. I’m really excited to try Mrs. Li’s tea!
I love the name. If I were a songwriter, I’d want to use it in my songs, too. =)
Here’s the actual line, from the 2nd verse on the lyrics to my song “TeaMind” (which you can hear at my website for free www.harpsinger.net)
“Music
in this moment
note by note the whole of life…
TeaMind
just this moment
sip by sip this is life…
Drinking tea like playing music
subtly alters both mind & mood
From the Sky Between the Branches
to the Dragonwell
journey within…
return renew.
The Dragonwell just arrived five minutes ago at the office. Wow! This tea is why Dragonwell is praised as some of the best in the world. Quick notes so far on my first tasting: Bourbon vanilla, granny smith apples, caramelized brussels sprouts, slight spiciness, and cherry sweetness.
Pre-orders get to ship early. Hooray! Plus, there are still three pounds left for anyone still holding out. I will post a link once we get photos and official tasting notes. In the mean time, here is the photo I snapped for Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=526015330748743&set=a.366937686656509.106750.120756301274650&type=1&theater
Update: The product photo and full description is up on the site now. Surprisingly there are still more than two pounds remaining. I expect them to be bought up this weekend.
Everyone who pre-ordered can take a look at my tasting notes in anticipation. I highly recommend brewing this “Dragonwell Style” as explained on the product page. : http://verdanttea.com/teas/mrs-lis-shi-feng-dragonwel-green-tea/
