So my cousin and his girlfriend bought their 1st house together. I sent them Adagio’s IngenuiTEA w/ green sampler, the savory sampler, and a couple other samplers. They just got it today and Matt COMPLETELY geeked out! I thought Jo MIGHT appreciate it, but I figured he’d hate it like my dad hated his camp fire tasting lapsang souchong (didn’t see that one coming) and his wife hated her’s. Jo likes it, but Matt is really excited about trying it! Go figure. I’ll let you know what they both think of it.
Nope, but I’m working on it! Was “pushing” tea yesterday at a friends house. If anything, she was reminded her of how much she enjoyed tea in the past and how she should try it out again.
Why did she give up on tea? That’s sad.
She didn’t give up on it, just usually prefers it when it’s cold here, which is not too often. But no worries- I got her back on track :)
Trying to convert my husband. He will drink it if I offer to make some for him when I’m making some for me sometimes. But he will not ask me to make him some when he sees me making tea, I have to ask him.
At night while I’m drinking tea he is drinking an “adult beverage” that he prefers, LOL so it’s hard to compete :)
He can add that to tea:) Something adult in lapsang souchong is really good.
What sort of thing do you add to Lapsang Souchong? Somehow I don’t see Midori or Triple Sec or even Chartreuse as a good mixer with Lapsang Souchong.
Whiskey and brandy. Rum and vodka would be good too.
Hmmm. I suppose I can see the whiskey. Brandy might work and the high sugar content would be interesting. I don’t know that rum would blend well with the taste. And, of course, there’s not enough taste in vodka to do much blending at all.
I’ve converted my girlfriend and a couple of my friends. The best thing I can do is wait until I see them making lipton or a similar bagged tea, and then I invite them over to try a sample of my tea. I continue to do that and keep trying to expand their horizons over time, not exerting too much pressure but rather just waiting for the right moments. Then, once they start to get excited about coming over for tea, I’ll wait until the holidays or their birthday and get them a basic infuser and some tea samples. It’s all gravy from there!
I’m not a very good proselytizer…have never converted anyone to veganism, tea drinking, yoga, well I did inspire my partner to quit smoking a couple years ago =)
That’s good! Stopping smoking is even more healthy than drinking tea!
lol…I’ve gotten my sweetie into drinking tea, even his roomate into the idea of getting a teapot. Unfortunately, have not gotten him to quit smoking. The next time I go visit my mom I plan on taking some loose leaf with me to try and convert her.
i have gotten my girlfriend and 3 friends from work to try pu-erh(something my sweetie said she would never do because of the odor) but secretly i think they all love it and one of my coworkers said it was the best he had ever tried.i gave good instructions on how to prepare it. i also think the quality i shared helped them too.
It’s not quite conversion, since my mom already drank “dust-in-a-teabag” tea, but I did manage her to convert to loose-leaf in the past couple of years. It was difficult— she was really stubbornly in love with her store-brand earl grey, and refused to use a brew basket or anything that would give her another dish to wash. Eventually I won her over with a combination of Adagio’s Earl Grey Moonlight and disposable single-use filterbags. She now allows me to pay my cell phone bills in tea, and has since spread the tea-love to her sister! I consider this a success.
I love this story! I don’t think I’ll ever wean Mum off her Tetley, but if I make some proper tea while she’s over, she’ll drink and enjoy it. She just couldn’t be bothered to do it on her own. And if I suggest bagging the good stuff for her, she’ll just say that she prefers her Tetley. =)
