Teavana - 12 HoliDays of Tea Collection

OK, so I admit, I’m a Teavana addict. I could NOT resist this special set with 12 limited edition teas. I’m actually hoping that they’ll add some of these to the regular selection next year.

SO, I had hoped to wait until December to do 12 days of new tea, but then thought if I really like any I might want to order early. I can be lazy at times, going to my favorite staple teas so thought I’d create this topic so you all can keep me in line to post a new tea each day. All of these are herbal except for one. The set comes with a small tin for each tea and 28g of tea which for me will be two 16oz cups of each. Doesn’t leave me any to try iced so will probably have to order another to do that.

These all seem like wonderful fall kinds of tea so I have high expectations!

Here’s the order I’m going to do:
1. Strawberry Snow Creme
2. Candied Mango Chai
3. MarziPlum Delight
4. Ginger Lemon Bash (listed on their site as Winter GingerAde)
5. Fireside Spiced Pear
6. SuperBerry Harmony
7. Festive Floral Fig Tart
8. Cinnamon Spice Cheer
9. Merry Cranberry
10. Fruitful Almond Cake
11. Cheery Cherry
12. Tropical Nut Paradise (left this for last as it’s a Rooibos)

OK, so just opened the bag…..what a delicious creamy strawberry smell! I fully intended to put the tea in the tin…one problem….there is WAY too much tea for the tin. I could probably use 3 tins for this. Guess I’ll have to drink it all up today! LOL

Heading off to make my pot.

So you mean the tins they give you aren’t big enough to hold the tea? LOL.

Yep, crazy huh! Well, I filled the tin and then made my pot which was 24oz – the tea that didn’t fit in the tin was almost equal to what I needed for the pot so as long as you open it and make a pot you’re ok!
The tins are perfect for matcha though – or gifts.

I’m not even sure why they don’t just put the tea in the tins to begin with. Seems like more work and extra packaging to me.

Well, the first one was a bust. Fortunately that’s the only one that lists hibiscus as the first ingredient. Most others are apple.

Wish me better luck tomorrow!

Just about to brew the Candied Mango Chai. Interestingly, this one completely fits in the tin. I might not get 4 8oz cups from this sample. Smells a bit “funky” with the mango and coconut – at least that’s what I think it creating the smell……

I have this same set. So far everything I’ve tried (marziplum, snowberry, super berry harmony) has been hit or total miss. Marziplum made me nauseous from the smell of it. Snowberry needs tons of rock sugar and milk then it’s good. Super berry is actually delicious and I wish they sold it alone (it would be wonderful blended with a black tea and iced in the summer) however there are 3 others (in addition to marziplum) that I refuse to even try because the smells make me sick. Ginger lemon bash, candied mango chai, and festive floral fig tart, if anyone is interested in giving them a go contact me and I’d be glad to send them to you, I seriously don’t even want them in my cupboard. Lol

The mango chai sounds like it has so much potential, does it smell gross or just overly sugary>

Its just got too much going on for me I think. It’s definitely very sweet smelling but it’s also got that warm, spicy undertones. I like my Chai tea to be straight on cloves and cinnamon And cardamom. And This has way too much fruit or something going on For me to properly enjoy.

I’d be glad to send it to you!!

I have already tried the festive floral fig tart and I loved it! If you really are not going to use it I would love to have some more, although I completely understand if you would rather give it to someone who has never tried it :)

I would be more than happy to get it out of my stash and let someone else properly enjoy it.

Great! : D I’ve followed you and I think you may need to follow me and then I will PM you my address.

I just received this set as a gift for christmas and am so excited to try them all out. I can’t find anywhere the caffeine content for any of the teas though. I am worried about having them at night if they do in fact contain caffeine.

I think they are all herbal from what I’ve seen.

All but one of them are herbal infusions (one is Rooibos Infusion). I am new to the loose tea drinking world and wasn’t sure if they might be mixed with a caffeine containing tea if they are herbal infusions?

All the teas in that set are caffeine-free, so don’t worry.

If it was, say, fruit mixed with green tea, Teavana would list it as a flavoured green. So anything listed as “herbal” will not have caffeine. Rooibos is not a plant that contains caffeine.

I would love to find a tea like the strawberry snow cream and the spiced pear. Does anyone have suggestions?

Hey darby, do you know now which of the 12 teas fit in the tins and which ones don’t? I want to drink up the ones that don’t fit first, since I can split them between the extra tins if they’re empty.

I got thru the first two and wasn’t impressed. I then got distracted and forgot to finish the others! LOL The mango for sure fits in the tin. Basically I put as much as I could in the tin and then made a cup that would use up the leftover.
