Need a steepster "HUG"!!!

So I purchased this beautiful teapot set to the tune of $70. I asked the seller to bubble wrap it so that it would arrive safe. Little did I know that she would take me literally – sending it in a box that is 12 × 12 × 12 with the pieces in bubble wrap and 7 pieces of papertowel in the box. A very delicate tea set will never survive with that much room to move! I knew it was broken the minute I opened the box…didn’t even need to unwrap the pieces. She is now refusing to refund saying I have to go thru USPS because she insured it. I’ve dealt with USPS in the past and know they will not approve of her packaging and will not refund.
I don’t know which upsets me more – losing the beautiful set or having to fight to get my $70 back!

was it on eBay or did you pay via Paypal? Her failure to package isn’t USPS’s fault so I’d try that…hell I’d even try a chargeback if it was with a credit card and not ebay/paypal.

Yep, on ebay and I paid with paypal. I’m hoping it will end up in my favor. When I messaged the seller she didn’t even give an “I’m sorry” just told me she insured it so I have to file a claim with USPS.
If it goes further I’ll have to dispute it with my credit card too.
It’s just sad that she doesn’t accept responsibility – let alone have the common sense not to throw a fragile teapot set into a box!

eBay has the buyer protection plan, go with that before the paypal people. I had someone attempt to get $400 out of my paypal account last year and it was a pain in the ass to deal with their people.

Thanks! As soon as she responded with – you’re up a creek attitude I filed a claim with ebay.
Oh, and I had offered to send pictures. She finally responds during dinnertime at 6:44pm that she wants pics and then at 7:08pm – mad that I hadn’t sent them yet – saying I had to have them to her by 9am! Nothing like giving someone notice!

there is a guy on ebay called chineseteapotgallery i have bought 4 yixing teapots from him. each one has been closed up wit a rubber band with cushion wrap in between the ld and the teapot with a bunch of packing peanuts all around. he ships from texas and i usually get it in 3 days to virginia. he also has pots with a “ball” filter that works very well. he also ships with the postal service in a flat rate box shipping box. here is an item rubber you can copy and paste to see his items on ebay 380285401181. and i would create a case with paypal with the buyer protection plan. be sure to let us know who the seller is so we don’t buy from them.

Yeah, I second the fact that Ying is a good guy to buy from. I’ve bought a dozen or so pots from them and one arrived with a broken lid. I sent him a picture and he sent me a replacement lid with no extra charge.

Ouch, that is just terrible. I hope you get things worked out soon and find another teapot set you love.

So unfortunate. I hope you are able to be compensated somehow.

Very unfortunate! I’m so sorry that this happened to you. I detest it when sellers take so little care when they package something so delicate.

Having dealt with paypal quite a bit, I will say this: you have a very limited window of time that you can post a claim. I don’t know exactly what ebay can do with their buyer protection plan, but, I do know that paypal only allows you something like 45 days to file your claim. Just be aware so that you don’t miss out on whatever you need to do to get your money back.

I find it incredibly upsetting the way the buyer is behaving. Very sorry you’re finding yourself in this situation. :(

I am so sorry hopefully paypal makes it right but don’t toss it out as they will probably ask for photos as well!

How sad! I hope you can get this resolved to your satisfaction. (I think I might publish the seller’s identity, or a link to the auction, lest someone else face a similar situation.) HUUGGGGG!

Yes, and please be sure to share your experience in your feedback of this seller so that others can be aware of how this seller behaves when things go wrong.

That is all very rude, darby! What a pain! But yes, you do have the seller protection so you should be OK. It’s bad sellers like that which give eBay a bad rep. Sorry you’re going through this and I hope everything works out!
