Keurig?
What’s everyone’s opinion on preparing tea in a Keurig machine? To me, that’s even worse than bagged tea.
Agreed. It’s pretty icky. I only drink it when I’m at the office where that’s the only option.
A friend of mine LOVES hers – she drinks several cups a day. It’s not my place to judge.
a good friend of mine like to put tea bags in a coffee pot and let the machine go (just water no coffee added) usually ill kindly decline a cup. it seems convenient but nothing i would do, i like my good ol IngenuiTEA or as my fiancee calls it the “tea pee-er”. i used to drink coffee alot and if i still did i would like that…for coffee lol
HAHA! I say it pees too.:) I love mine too, but I don’t like that it’s plastic so I bought a glass tea pot w/ a strainer in the cover.
:D i asked for 1 of those for my birthday/christmas (there 8 days apart) if the IngenuiTEA was glass i would have broken it like a million times by now lol it fall out of my cabinet like 2x a week
naaaaah. I dont like it. If you need something quick and warm and its all they have then fine. But there is not enough steep time. It brews so fast i feel like im just drinking water with a hint of tea flavor. Def not my “cup o tea” :) (if i were to use those for anything it would be coffee over tea…and even then i dont care for the coffees much either)
Sorry if I’m replying to old news, but here’s my 2 cents:
I like it for coffee, but only in a rush. I’ve used it empty to get hot water in a jiffy, but never tried any tea k-cups. They did have a lemon drink that came with the brew system that was good when I was sick, but not tea like in any means.
My workplace provides Bigelow green tea pods for the Keurig, and I use them occasionally, though the tea is nothing to write home about. Mostly I use the Keurig empty, to pour my chosen amount of hot water over my filled teaball in my cup. But sometimes it’s just quicker and less fuss to use the pods.
i’m fine with it when it’s the only option, milk and sugar and hide a lot
My old company had one of these, and I went through three or four cups a day of the Celestial Seasonings herbals — it’s not great tea, but it’s decent tea and incredibly convenient. (And paid for by the company!)
My friend loves hers — but don’t you think the whole tea preparation is part of the enjoyment of the tea? I know my friend pops a k-pod in and voila, she says there is coffee or tea, but somehow, the magic of the whole tea process is missing. You know, opening, the tin, smelling the dry leaves, shaking/measuring just so much of the tea in the infuser, boiling the water just right, pouring and infusing the tea just at the right time and temp, appreciating the aroma and the color of the brew, and enjoying that first and second and third … etc.,.. last sip of perfectly made tea!
“but don’t you think the whole tea preparation is part of the enjoyment of the tea”… YES! While I will order bagged tea when I go out to eat if that’s my only option or gladly accept a cup of tea made by someone however they want to make it (and yes, I even want the Fine T automatic maker to have a cup ready for me when I get up or come home), I absolutely agree that the preparation is part of the enjoyement- and in the making sure you get your cuppa the way you prefer it. But that’s just me.
Maybe, one day, my friend with the Keurig will see the light and know that it isn’t always about popping in the k-pod, but also about the process! Think of all the tea ceremonies, e.g., Japanese Tea Ceremony, for one thing! It’s the process! But you are right, it is also the graciousness of accepting that tea made on a machine by a friend who thinks that that defines great tea because she offered it to you. And one day, when she is drinking my offering, she will appreciate my tea and think that the convenience of a k-pod isn’t always what it’s about, that sometimes, the magic of tea begins to happen during the process!
it may also be about
1)speed – i need tea NOW
2)expectations – have you tried branching your friend into full leaf teas? even the bagged full leaf? sometimes the preparation is scary to newbies
