Yorkshire Gold

When I saw the Yorkshire Gold in my local grocery store, (which has been improving their tea section.) While I had thought I probably wouldn’t like it much, I wanted to give it a shot because I felt that I should have a few black teas on hand for early mornings. LOL. I tried it once, have been unable to make myself try it again. My dad tried it yesterday and when I asked him if he liked it enough, because otherwise I would probably give it away, he said no he likes it and wants it in the cupboard with his teas. (LOL, I took over the cupboard that used to house our bagged tea, hot cider mix, hot chocolate, crystal light powders and MIO concentrated juice. And put all the teas that my Dad likes into the pantry, so that I would have room for the bagged teas I like and of course my loose teas. Luckily he hasn’t complained to much, though I did offer to move the stuff back , he said no, not necessary but that dialing it back would be a good idea. Which I do agree but it has been hard to keep that in mind when I am at a tea store.

I like it. It’s a good strong tea to get you going in the morning. Not complex or subtle; just strong. I like it for work because it comes in bags and I don’t have to worry about the loose leaves in the sink. It can be a tad bitter so I usually add sweetener.

LOL. I added a ton of sweetener and still no go. I suspect I’ve been spoiled by my flavored teas. Ahh well, least there is someone in the house who can appreciate it!

I’ve had Yorkshire Gold before in a big specialty grocery store (in fact, the last time I had it the cashier couldn’t get a price check on it and I got it for free). This was before my journey with loose leaf and so, as I remember it, it made a pretty good tea. I agree with the others, it’s a very strong, in your face sort of tea. I’d liken it to a very aggressive Irish Breakfast…

I always put milk and honey in it, though. Otherwise it’s way too astringent and strong (but I may have been oversteeping it, back in the day…).
