Here's what I'm thankful for today...what about you?

Had no idea how touching some of the posts might be when I started this thread. Just another reminder of what is really important in life.

Two years ago at this time I was awaiting a biopsy that would result in a cancer diagnosis four days before Christmas. Yet here I am! Healthy and hardy! I give thanks for that, my family, my home, and second chances!

I am thankful for wonderful friends, both in IRL and online. I suffer from clinical depression and often switch from enthusiasm and positivity to foreboding and apathy which can make me very difficult to deal with. My best friends respectively suffer from manic depressive bipolar and schizophrenia and to see them fight through their own problems to help me with my own is very heartwarming.

I am thankful for a kick ass boyfriend! He’s the first partner with whom the most heated argument we’ve had was about who was going to cook dinner; the first partner to treat me like a girl; and the first partner to not make me feel worthless. He plays games with me, drinks tea with me, deals with me and my chain-smoking band of mentally disturbed misfits and he does it all being himself and smiling at me. :)

Last but not least, I am thankful for my family. Uncomfortable as they are with me, my black clothes, colored hair and geeky ways and as creepy and strange as they think I am, I have never been turned away when I was hungry, tired, lost or scared and even when I am not. This thanksgiving highlighted that more than I am accustom to when my family was more than happy to see their little recluse of a cousin/niece and have genuine interest in how I was doing and what I have been up to.

Essentially, I am thankful for kindness. I am thankful that we crave and give kindness both to those we love and those we don’t know. Kindness is what fosters hope and hope is one of the most positive emotions that we can experience. :)
