Which teas haunt you? Or: "You know what I wish I could have a cup of right now?"
I have been getting sample sizes or a bit of this and that for a few weeks now, and have found some incredible teas in the process. I have bought as cautiously as I can but the whole monthly paycheck means sometimes I taste something amazing, but only a little of it, then can’t afford more for what seems like ages, if at all.
It seems like every 10th tea I drink I develop an evil back-clinging demoness screeching harpy of a craving for. Does this happen to you all, or just us new kids who haven’t collected all our cupboard ‘staples’ yet? What is the most recent tea, obtainable or not, that obsessed you?
I’ll start. The past two weeks I have been tortured, sometimes five or six times a day, with the thought of http://steepster.com/teas/whispering-pines-tea-company/28692-whisper-of-the-woods which I got a sample of (what seems like) AGES ago. :-) A week before that I really really reeeaaally wanted more ginseng oolong. The past holiday weekend I started sulking intermittently at being deprived of http://steepster.com/teas/chads-chai-and-tea-company/13098-finnigans-wakeup .
Verdant’s Laoshan Black haunts me, for sure. On my last order with them I intended to just get some autumn tieguanyin along with chocolate phoenix chai for rayn, and somehow 2oz of laoshan black just snuck in there. Floral oolong seems to be something I can never get enough of.
Laoshan black was supposed to be in my next Verdant tea order, but the moneys were gone when Black Friday hit. Hope it will be around when I can afford to place an order. So many Verdant teas on my list to try! I didn’t have the heart to ask the s.o. to buy more than one early Christmas tea though, especially when I saw the price tag on the Golden Fleece.
Chocolate Phoenix Chai by Verdant. Every time I think about it I get sad. I didn’t even order it for myself!
I still need to order more I just joined the tea of the month club and I’m I get one of those.
Eight Candles by Della Terra. I only bought a sample and am mad at myself for not getting more before they sold out. PLEASE restock, Della Terra!!
The white strawberry from David’s, the OLD blend. Their new one is terrible. I miss it so!
I’ve always wondered, how many ounces are in a crapton? Never was any good at converting measurements. ;-)
Put it on The List, Indigobloom. I love it but have more than I need, for sure.
A crapton is any amount of tea that is not consumable in a reasonable amount of time. E.g. 4 oz. of Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha is not a crapton. 2 oz. of Strawberry White, which I drink way less often, IS a crapton. :D
Chili Chocolate Truffle and Oatmeal Raisin Cookie both from Della Terra. I have been hoarding what’s left of it until I get my 4 ounces of it from theBlack Friday sale.
My daughter stole the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie from my stash! She now has her own little basket of teas that are “hers”. It cracks me up. The other tea in her basket is Candy Cane Lane from CS. :)
On that note I am enjoying some Oatmeal Raisin Cookie right now! While slacking at work oops
Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha and Laoshan Black. I’ve been trying to hold off drinking them like I want to (i.e. daily), because I have tons of other stuff to drink. But, oh so good. My cravings fluctuate a lot though.
I’ve been holding on to my Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha too! I love it and will be so sad when I use it all so I am trying to use it as little as possible. :-(
I know. I think I’m going to indulge tonight though, because what’s the point of having the tea if you never enjoy it? :)
I think right now, the tea that is haunting me most is the Lime Jello one from 52Teas. So HE BETTER have put it in the sampler box. I didn’t even get the sampler box. But, he will also issue it as a reblend if he did. AND I WANT MORE. I loved that stuff.
Golden Snail from Harney and Sons…it was discontinued right around the time I first tried it so I never got to order more. Verdant’s Laoshan Black also does that to me. Most of the time I am lucky enough to sample things and think “Meh, I can live without it.”
