tealog, how to enter entries

How do you enter what you are drinking into tealog. Is it You/tealog/ enter comment?

Enter tea you’re drinking in the search and click enter. If it’s already there, click on it and then click “add tasting note”, add tasting note, and click “save note”. If it is not listed in the seach results, click “add to database”, do so, then click “add tasting note”.

When I enter a tasting note, ‘drank 1 time’ appears in my tea cupboard listing. That looks sad and silly for those teas I’ve drunk dozens of times.

Is there a way to increase that to more properly reflect my actual experience with the tea, without writing a tasting note each time (and thus clogging up the tasting notes with lots of short useless entries)?

And is it worth bothering—that is, do other steepsters see that ‘drank x times’ when they’re looking at my reviews?

No, we don’t (or at least I don’t think people notice it), and you can increase the number of times it says you’ve drank it by adding more tasting notes (blank or otherwise). Blank tasting notes don’t show up on people’s dashboards, which is convenient—it just keeps track of how many times you’ve drank it.

oh my if we all logged every tea we drank it would be quite crazy! (IMO) i think people log when they find something new, or try something new (iced instead of hot, longer steep, shorter steep)

…? I think a lot of people log all the tea they drink—they just don’t write tasting notes for them, and it doesn’t show up on the dashboard. I don’t, only because I usually forget to log stuff.

I think it really depends on what data you’re interested in and how you want to use Steepster. I suppose it could be a good tool for tracking your taste preferences over time, so you can see what you tend to drink more of. I don’t use it that way, so I also don’t tend to look for that in what others track. For me it’s mostly keeping track of what I’ve tasted and what I thought about those teas, and seeing what others think about what they’re drinking so I can get ideas about other things I might like to try.

Simply press add tasting note, then okay, and it will simply add on to that, without actually adding a blank tasting note to the string of notes OTHER people will see (it does add one to your Most Recent Tasting Notes section though, this’ so that if you pressed okay by accident and actually MEANT to add a tasting note, you can just hit edit).

I generally don’t bother blank-logging teas unless I don’t think I’ll be able to dissect them properly in a review for a while. I think it clutters up my user-page, since blank-logs still show up. I don’t care too much that it says I only drank any given tea less than 4 times.

Agree with Harfatum, I don’t generally look at how many times someone drank something. I usually assume they drank it more times than are reflected in the log because I know that is true of me.
