Mine sat in Illinois for 27 hours because god forbid UPS deliver something a day early. Nothing like being worried though it got lost there because tracking hasn’t said anything, ugh.

Tomorrow though. Finally.

Zephyr select said

Yeah mine sat all day in Vernon, CA yesterday. I really don’t like UPS I prefer Fed Ex.

momo said

I live in the same city where UPS is headquartered, and it never fails to amaze me that they don’t even try to look good here. I always hate getting tea sent UPS because it always ends up looking like the box was dropkicked across the country. Sadly it’s probably too expensive for companies on the west coast to send any other way.

Zephyr select said

Yeah I’ve received packages like that before too. I almost never let anything fragile get shipped UPS for that reason… I get stuff delivered in better condition by USPS.

Kittenna said

LOL I saw that! Never even heard of the random place it sat for all those hours. I haven’t been checking the tracking info much though.

momo said

I am the person who tries the number as soon as it’s given to me, hahaha.

Zephyr select said

Thats me too I check it as soon as I get it to make sure its correct.

No tea ware but really I don’t need anything in tea ware am happy to have more of the value in tea itself! :)

Kittenna said

I’d actually prefer not to get teaware or a bag… easier to split teas!

Azzrian said

So true! You would have to do a drawing to see who gets the bag or tea ware!

Sil select said

Awesome! This looks pretty tasty :) Now i’m even more excited about our bag heh

Azzrian said

I am just as excited to see what everyone else gets! I love these Happy Bags! What a fun thing. I am already excited for next years lol. Now that I see how it works better, and have more views of what they offer I may save up for the 100 bag next year!

What a nice surprise on a cold Winter’s day!

Azzrian said

Luckily for me the weather here is absolutely perfect 52 degrees and sunny but indeed a lovely surprise (not that I wasn’t stalking the tracking lol) and so many amazing teas! Just had the Morning Tea! Review is up!

momo said

The teaware looked pretty junky anyway, like one of those ingenuitea type steepers but way cheap. And meh who wants a teaball unless it’s a novelty type thing just so you can look at it and be like “haha a pineapple.” (true story)

Azzrian said

Indeed! Pineapples are cool though.

Becky said

We got exactly the same bag, looks like. I’d bet they were packed together!

Azzrian said

Nice are you happy with yours?

Becky said

Very! Each tea is new to me, so they’re all an adventure. So far I like most of the ones I’ve tried. Strawberry vanilla is a little too strawberry-Quik for me (I liked it on the second steep—maybe I can trade it with someone?), but everything else has been nice. Do you open them all pretty quickly or do you make yourself wait until you use up some? I can’t decide whether to show any restraint.

Azzrian said

What is this thing you call restraint?
I love the strawberry vanilla one but yes I do see where it is a bit candy like.
I have no doubt you can find someone to trade with you. I will if someone does not grab it up in the mean time but I need to see which ones I may want to trade you for. :)

Those all sound delicious! So glad you like your happy bag! I agree, I think next year I’m going to try for the $60 or $100 bag!

Becky said

You’re encouraging me to open all the teas at once! My mom thought I was crazy not to. “Don’t you just want to smell them ALL?”

I’d be more than happy to trade if you wanted some extra strawberry, but don’t feel like you must! Everyone seems so nice and generous around here, I love it.

Azzrian said

I like the way your mom thinks! :)
I will let you know if I come across any I don’t care for to see if you do or want to try it and we can trade HOWEVER if you find someone who wants to trade before I get back to you by ALL means go for it! Don’t save it for me. I’m not hurting for tea here :)

Becky said

Ahaha, it doesn’t sound like any of us are!

I came home to find UPS had just dropped my box in the snow by my mailbox. They didn’t even bother driving down the driveway to knock on the door, I am so angry. However, when I opened the box, I was really happy with what I got! I picked up Champagne Rose with the fukubukuro, and inside the grab bag I got:

A small tea ball, great because I just gave my other one to a friend
Matcha Kirara Rice Tea (How did they know I was thinking about getting this?)
Piccolo
Grapefruit Green
Pineapple Oolong
A tin of Momoko!
Afternoon Tea
Paradise Green 10 tea bags
Momo 10 tea bags.

And I also got a tiny sample of Piccolo. I really like green teas, so this bag is great. I was super happy with the Momoko, and I can’t wait to try it. I was really looking for more teas with a bit of rose or lavender, and I am a sucker for nice packaging. So happy!

Azzrian said

Yay!!! So happy for you! :) Pineapple Oolong sounds nice! Can’t wait for your review of it!

Just got my $30 bag!

Momoko in a tin
Paradise Green in teabags
Momo in teabags
Matcha Kirara Rice Tea
Afternoon Tea
Grapefruit Green
Pineapple Oolong
Piccolo
and an infuser ball

I’m fairly satisfied. I don’t care much for Piccolo (anybody want to swap?), but I adore Pineapple Oolong and Grapefruit Green so I’m very happy with those.

EDIT: Identical to the bag Plum got today, so I guess our orders were filled simultaneously :)

Azzrian said

So glad yours arrived! Enjoy!

I’m glad to hear you like the Pineapple Oolong and the Grapefruit Green…I received those too but haven’t tried either yet :)

Well mine contained the same items as all of the $30 mail-order bags here… which appear to be identical! Can’t say I’m thrilled, guess I should have ordered a $60 bag because I’m much more interested in some of those teas.

Sil select said

Kinda sad that the bags are all seemingly the same for the most part. :( Still looking forward to our bag since I’ve only tried a few of lupicia teas but i’d rather see more randomness if that’s how they position it.

Dinosara said

Yeah, at least the $60 bags seem to have a little variation. Oh well, now I know to go big or go home. :D

cuppaT said

Yeah, not quite so excited about receiving my $30 bag as I was; the $60 bag sounds a lot more interesting. I’ve never tried Lupicia, though, so it’ll be a decent introduction. I guess they figure anyone who orders a $30 fukubukuro must be a tea newb; it would explain them throwing in a silly tea ball.

momo said

I wonder if you can return it. If I’m splitting one and they’re both the same, I don’t want 1 1/2 of the same teas.

Sil select said

ooooh just thought about that momo. bah that’s not cool :(

momo said

yeah. had I known I was gonna end up getting two or that they don’t even try to be a surprise, I would have just gotten one $60 one.

Super disappointed with them, I guess because Kittenna’s billing address is Canada, I don’t get the magazine. Oh and both bags are the same of course. Swap material ahoy I guess.

Azzrian said

Personally I think the “magazine” is terribly over rated. Sure you get a sample bag with it each month but its not really a magazine – just a full color four page (two pages front and back) advertisement more or less of their recent tea releases or whatever they are featuring. No industry info, noting really about tea itself or brewing etc – basically – your not missing much. Sorry about your bags being duplicates though that is just not fun at all. I wish we had known this before hand.

momo said

If I have to keep some tea in cardboard boxes for the time being I would like that paper to decorate them, I really have nothing at this time otherwise since Upton’s the only ones I get and they’re not the type to do that well :/

I’m also pretty sure Sil and Kittenna’s bag is short at least 3-4 teas compared to all the other $60 bags posted but I want to ask them if I can open it to add everything up first. Just by weight it feels off.

Azzrian said

Hummmm MAYBE that is because they got more of the 50g loose packets rather than a tin or something? Dunno but it seems very curious to me! I would be dying to know myself! What did you get in your bag? Did you list them and i missed it?

Alphakitty said

If you’re looking for free and pretty tea catalogs/magazines, Republic of Tea has one that’s free to sign up for and is very nice (plus it comes with a sample). I think they’re like every 2 months?

momo said

I got the same one everyone else on this page got. (twice) I’ll sign up for the RoT one too then. worse thing that happens I still have a ton of stuff cut out from Bon Appetit that I used on my dining table. Not tea, but better than brown box.

Becky said

I went to the Lupicia site and added each tea from the happy bag into my cart, to see how the value stacked up. Full price, the teas I got would have cost me $113, which I’d consider acceptable for myself (others may vary, especially if you got several teas you don’t care for). I don’t know if doing so might make you feel a little better about the situation or not, but it could be worth a try.

I’d be sad if I got two identical bags, for sure.

momo said

$71.50, nowhere close, I already emailed them.

Azzrian said

I am happy with my bag BUT when I get home from taking my daughter to a doc appt I am going to add mine up just to check it out since others have had problems.

Azzrian said

My bag that I paid 60 for came out to 131.00 so that was more than expected.

Becky said

Ouch, momo! Yeah, I’m sure they will fix that for you. It’s nowhere near what was advertised.
