what are your cupboard essentials and semi-essentials?

as inspired by Kasumi’s love of tea, i am very much curious to know which teas

a)you want to be always in your cupboard, and
b) which ones you like but can still do without half of the time

thanks for sharing everyone!

a. Smores from Della Terra, Moonbeams and Lavendar from Vermont Liberty Tea Company, My Morning Mate from Teavana, Oatmeal Raisin Cookie from Della Terra, and Jasmine green tea

Winter Nog from Della Terra, Chocolate Pumpkin Pie from Della Terra, Masala Chai/Chocolate Chip mix from Adagio, Earl Grey, an herbal peppermint

I HATED Adagio’s Masala Chai. I bought a full POUND of it too. I already traded it though :)

I don’t love it but I’m not a big chai drinker so it’s one that I keep in my office in a blend of random Adagio teas for when I’m running to an appointment and I need something quick. I don’t want to waste my good teas when I know I can’t sit down and enjoy the cup, so I kind of keep it stocked because it’s cheap and ok haha

Ideally my permanent stash consists of mostly varieties, teas I know I enjoy at any temperature( at least 1-2 each of) Genmaicha, Sencha, Moroccan or other Green tea/Mint Blend Plain Oolong, Thai blend, Silk Oolong, Jasmine,(Traditional) Chai, and White, Unflavored Matcha, Darjeeling and a Ceylon black.

forgot the tisanes:

Ginger, Lychee, Yuzu, Lavender, Mint, Rose, Rosehips, Hibiscus, and Japanese Konbu-cha (both plain, and Ume flavors) are among the tisanes/blends I try to keep at all times

Still exploring for new additions

You know you’re addicted to tea when..

You buy lots of tea in hopes you will one day HAVE a small but refined cupboard stash (which never happens – you just have lots and lots of tea)

oh please tell me this isnt true! (but inwardly resigning self to her fate)

Seriously. What is this permanent or essential teas? I’m constantly sampling. Well I guess I always have some season of Laoshan Green, Black and Tieguanyin. And I always have a dark oolong, preferably a Wuyi and a good Shu Pu’er or two.

@Autumn The teas you listed would be your answer to ‘what is your essential teas?’. :D

My permanent stash usually includes: an Earl Grey Cream, Peal Jasmine, Gunpowder Tea, Genmaicha and Windsor Castle Black Tea.

I usually have a rotating stock of flavoured black teas and green teas that have caught my eye, too. Whatever looks interesting will probably end up in my cupboard.

I always have…

Culinary Teas Cherry Cordial
Plain Rooibos (Any cheap brand, mainly used when sick)
Vanilla Chai tea bags (usually Bigelow)
Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride
ESP Emporium White Grape
Kusmi Sweet Love

I enjoy Holiday teas, but mostly can’t manage to keep them in stock all year. There are lots of other teas I like, but won’t order unless I’m already getting stuff from that site.

Well…so far I don’t really have must keep stocked but there are a few contenders:

Blackberry Sage-Republic of Tea. (The one I got is looseleaf, which I hope ROT continues doing and I can continue getting it from the fruit market. If not though…the bagged version is ok.)
Blue Moon White-Unknown company. ( I may have to break my promise to myself about not being more tea til March, because I only got like 4 cups left.)
Victorian Earl Grey-Unknown.
Opus Rouge/Citrus-Lavender-Sage-Teavana
Maharajah Chai/Tulsi Dosha Chai-Teavana
Peach Tranquility-Teavana, (Though since I got a ton of it, I may not feel quite so warm towards it by the time I get to the end of it.)
I think I might feel the same with Tower of London, but we’ll see once I get another sample tin of it.
I have a ‘3 times’ rule: If I like it enough that I get it 3 times then it gets its own tin and becomes a staple tea. Though the 2 times it’s happened I ended up getting tired of the tea.

LOL my must have hasn’t changed really at all though would definitely add:

Pink Passionfruit by David’s Tea
Earl Grey by Supreme Harney and Sons
Peachy Keen White by Unknown
Mango Chili Green Rooibos
Dragonfruit Devotion by Teavana

I would rather avoid must haves because eventually a tea company will stop carrying it, or go out of business.

Well, the earl grey creams seem to be the highest rated, so I’ll always have some of those around. There are many good ones! I would also start to panic if I didn’t have any of these:

Zen Tea’s Phoenix Pearls
Zen Tea’s Chocolate Mint Rooibos
Golden Moon Sinharaja
Nature’s Tea Leaf Chocolate Midnight Black
Fusion Teas Pistachio Lime Mate
Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset
Harney & Sons Paris
52 Teas Date Nut Muffin Rooibos
Della Terra Apple Cinnamon Yogurt
Celestial Seasonings Nutcracker Sweet
…too many great Butiki teas

I’m gonna be very sad when my SpecialTeas Vienna Winter Green and Element’s Mojito are gone… because they aren’t in business anymore!
