What is your go-to cup when you've had a horrible day?

My usual comfort tea (Harney’s Tower of London) isn’t cutting it after today sadly. I’d love to hear what other peoples little cups of joy are.

for years it has been Sense of Peace by zhena’s gypsy tea, but that is more a cup of calm. mint blends, and teas of my childhood such as genmai are also helpful. in time, I see silk oolongs falling into this category.

Those sound lovely. I love that tasting something that you had in your childhood can sometimes transport you to a simpler time – for me at least.

If it’s not too late in the day, matcha is my go-to. However, if it’s too late for that much of a boost, I like anything with Jasmine in it, or my beloved pumpkin chai!

Pumpkin chai?!

Pumpkin chai sounds delicious. What brand is your favourite? DT?

Jasmine Matcha…hmm…

DT Pumpkin Chai baby. It’s like crack.

Earl Grey Cream from Zen Tea Life is the one I turn to the most, but I also really like Holy Basil Spa Blend from Verdant. I find that both help me calm down and refocus.

Sorry your day was rotten! Hope this get better soon.

Thanks Veronica! I’ve heard that Zen’s Earl Grey Cream is fantastic. I’ll have to see if I can source some soon.

Earl Grey White with honey. Lots of honey. Probably more honey than tea, depending on the degree of horrible.

I don’t really have one specific tea that I drink after a horrible day, but I always make and drink an entire pot of whatever it is.. Last week it was Maple Pecan Oolong from Butiki Teas.

I tend to go for an expensive tea that will make me sit down and relax with a gongfu session. I view it as a treat and that I deserve that tea. I tend to go with Premium Taiwanese Assam, Wild Purple Buds Puerh, or Anxi Tie Guan Yin. It really turns my whole mood around since I get so excited about the tea.

I agree with this! Having to focus completely on brewing the tea correctly and tasting all the different layers is a great way to melt away stress. It’s so relaxing but at the same time I find it mentally stimulating.

Absolutely.

I turn to a Japanese green tea (sencha or genmaicha) or un/flavored rooibos. The former is perfect for relaxing me and perking me up simultaneously.

I don’t as yet have a set tea that I would make after a horrible day, and it depends on what time of day it is, why it was a horrible day and what I am in the mood for. I like the idea of using dessert teas after a horrible day, unfortunately with exception of my Orange Creamsicle Tea, and various fruit teas, there are not any dessert teas I like, particularly if they have chocolate in them.
