I use a quite small teacup and keep the rest in a closed thermos – it keeps the tea pretty warm and fresh, but I do hate overly hot tea.

Wow I just drink it fast. I haven’t used any of these, but sounds interesting.
I usually use yunomi with my teapot, or just one of my tumblers personally.
How long will your tea remain warm enough in a yunomi or tumbler?
yunomi, it depends on the size, but maybe half an hr for the large. Regarding the tumblers, it depends on the design.
I drink mine fast. I was thinking about this topic the other day.
I just pour a big 16 oz cup, and drink it when I can, as I can. Inevitably, I end up drinking a lot of lukewarm tea, but I don’t base my ratings on that. :P
We also typically, end up with a mug of lukewarm tea that needs to be reheated. A mug cools off very quickly.
Part of the tea drinking experience is to sip, enjoy, & relax. Rather than having to rush to consume it before it cools off.
Keep a thermos of hot water nearby and refill your cup/mug/pot when it gets about 1/4 left. That’s what we do here in China.
This sounds like a good solution for Pu’er tea and other multiple infusion teas.

Thats what I do, I keep a insulated carafe of hot water near me, I steep my teas in the gaiwan drink it up and do it again over and over
I usually finish off a 8 oz cup before it gets cold. When I’m drinking tea by the pot I wrap it in a towel, stays warm longer that way.
I sip my tea from a small yunomi and keep the rest of the tea in a pot on the teapot warmer. I don’t have a fancy tea light warmer yet so I just use old brownie baking form, flipped upside down over the stove burner which I set to a min temperature. It keeps my tea beautifully warm… :)
For what it’s work, here’s my current routine for sipping tea while watching movies and/or surfing the web. To preface this description, I have lots and lots of tea pots and tea cups in many styles and sizes.
So, I brew the tea in the kitchen gongfu style in a little 4-5 ounce pot and use a 16 ounce kyusu as a fair pot and pour each of the brewing’s into it. A favorite style of cup is one of those little Korean Celadon infuser cups. Hardly ever use the infuser but they are great cups for keeping tea hot as they have thick walls and a lid. After filling the kyusu and cup there will be 20 or so ounces of tea to sip. I put the cup and pot on a tray and carry them into the living room and place the pot on a cast iron tea warmer with a little candle burning to keep the pot warm.
Not really a traditional approach from any particular culture, but it works for me.
