I’ve reviewed all the brands mentioned on page one. The following tea suppliers specifically state their Earl Grey tea is organic:

In order of mention:
– TheTeaMerchant.net – French Earl Grey
– New Mexico Tea Company – Organic Earl Grey
– Persimmon Tree – Earl Grey Creme
– DAVIDsTEA – Organic Cream of Earl Grey
– Earl Grey Moonlight – Tealux

What other ORGANIC Earl Grey & EG Cream teas are your favorites?

It appears the The Persimmon Tree has recently discontinued their Earl Grey Creme http://steepster.com/teas/the-persimmon-tree/17384-earl-grey-creme and replaced it with Earl Grey Heavenhttp://www.persimmontreetea.com/earl-grey-heaven-tea.html

Ingredients
“Organic and Biodynamic Black Loose-Leaf Tea, Organic Cornflowers, Organic Oil of Bergamot, Natural Flavors, Earl Grey Heaven Black Tea”

The newly added ingredients to the Heaven version appear to be Biodynamic Black Loose-Leaf Tea & Organic Cornflowers.

Also, see the new Earl Grey Heaven Steepster Tasting Note page:

Has anyone tried Earl Grey Heaven yet?

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet (feeling too lazy to rummage cough) but I positively love Organic Cream of Earl Grey from DavidsTea. This is coming from a person who is more often than not disappointed in their teas. (I’ve tried around a dozen or so different teas, and this is the only one I’ve re-purchased)

It’s also very inexpensive, and not a seasonal tea so you can buy it anytime! :)

I just purchased a pair of digital thermometer/timers from DavidsTea and had requested that their Organic Cream of Earl Grey as one of the 3 free samples for this order. That request was apparently overlooked or disregarded. We were very disappointed as we’re genuinely interested in tasting it.

I’m sure that if you contact them they will send one out for you, especially since you requested it. I find DT’s customer service to be excellent.

Thanks – that’s good to hear. I emailed them yesterday, when the order arrived. Hopefully, they will look into it.

If they DO send it, hope you enjoy it. :) I don’t have a huge frame of reference for different Earl Grey Creams, but I really like it a lot. :)

I emailed them yesterday inquiring about picking our free samples and the gal said they don’t do that and that it’s random and typically whatever new things they have:(

looseTman said

Uniquity, You’re correct. I’m pleased to report, Davids excellent customer service took care of everything.

GG, I suspect the difference may be because I inquired before placing an order. I was told that it might be possible and they would try to accommodate the request. I also listed my preferences on the online order form.

My current favorite Earl Grey has got to be Teajo Tea’s Silky Earl Grey.
I love the richness of Assam.
Teavana’s Earl Grey Creme tastes too weird and artificial…bleh (and to think their stuff contains pesticides even though their sales reps spout otherwise)

“It was not until they found the right black tea blended with actual vanilla beans that gave rise to this creation. It’s rich, heady, strong like you would expect it to be. At the same time it is smooth, creamy, and perfectly complemented by the vanilla beans it has. It’s awesome. Royally awesome.”

Sounds wonderful! Which whole leaf black tea(s) is/are used in your Earl Grey de la Crème? Thanks

Hey there LT, we use an assam/ceylon blend. Delicious.

I’m not a huge fan of EG, but I absolutely adore Grace! Earl Grey Black Tea with Bergamot. It’s a nice medium body with just enough bergamot to give it a lovely scent and tangy aftertaste. Alas, the company is based in London and I can’t find the tea for sale online. I get mine from the local Russian supermarket. Worth the trip if there’s one in your neighborhood.

looseTman said

Hi Kaylee, Please let us know if you find Grace for sale online.

Will do. I haven’t had any luck with Russian grocery stores online, but I’m hoping the company will respond to my e-mail.

I started drinking my Grandma’s Twinings Earl Grey as toddler. She would brew one and a half cups of tea and would drink one cup and throw out the rest and I would have a couple of mouthfuls when I was visiting. Twinings EG was my favourite tea for years until I started drinking it black. After trying different brands, my favourite now is an Australian brand called Madame Flavour. It has a really earthy taste and aroma from the lemon myrtle and a good strong, but not overpowering, bergamot.

We don’t seem to get Earl Grey cream teas in Oz – is it like an EG with vanilla?

I can also recommend Mariage Freres Earl Greys especially the “Provence”, Fortnum & Mason Green Earl Grey (probably the best F&M tea), and T2’s Pu-erh Earl Grey.

looseTman said

Yes, Earl Grey cream is typically made with vanilla. (Hopefully not artificial vanilla!)

Thanks for you suggestions. There are definitely a few fans of Mariage Freres. I’ve not yet had the pleasure. My wife likes black EG rather than green. The Pu-erh Earl Grey sounds intriguing. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks.
