Got my first order from Farmer Leaf two days ago. Trying this vendor mostly because it ships from Europe and because they seem to have good reviews.

I sampled almost everything they had in stock and I also got a 100g Bulang 2017 mini cake. The samples were generous enough and leaf was mostly intact. I even got a bonus sample, a mysterious “Jingmai Shu”. I don’t know much about ripe but it smelled clean and sweet. Good first impression and the shipping was free and quick.

I have ordered from their main site in China. Arrived in less than two weeks (to Europe) and no problems, prices are lower than from their European site. The Jingmai shu bing you mentioned is 10€ cheaper for example.

I know that the teas are cheaper on their main site but I’m having terrible experiences with orders shipped from China. Although they arrive from there to my country in 2-3 weeks they can stay for over one month in customs and I also get taxed for the package so I end up paying the same amount in the end but with more hassle.
With orders from Europe this mess doesn’t happen though.

Yesterday I got some tea related mail, a charcoal burning tea stove from Chawangshop. Now if I can only light the charcoal. It is not like you can use matchlight for these things.

What an awesome looking thing.

This would be great for having a tea session outdoors instead of dealing with extension cords to use your electric kettle.

What kind of charcoal does it use? If this takes regular BBQ charcoal, then maybe self lighting charcoal would be quick way to start the stove.

AllanK said

It uses a special charcoal. I originally bought olive pit charcoal but later bought a charcoal recommended by Teadborg if my memory serves me, I think it is Japanese. It is recommended that you start the charcoal on the burner on the stove but that could get me evicted. As matchlight is cheap, I intend to start my regular grill then put the special charcoal in to get hot, then transfer it.
