Oh my those are so cute! Especially the blue one (:

Those are so cute! But you use your extra tea liquor…that phrase does not compute. There is never extra

My tea pet (two feet from Verdant from years ago) rarely get watered, but if I use my gaiwan I will pour the little bit that I can’t fit in my two mini-cups over the feet. They do look better when I keep up with it, but @mj says, there is never extra. :)

Lol. You can also use them for the water that you warm the teapot and cups with :P

I never drink the last sip or two because I don’t like the little dots that collect at the bottom, so when it’s oolong I “feed” it to my Yixing pot. You can always do that.

That’s a super cute tea pet! I’ve always wanted one, but I don’t know if I’d be able to “feed” it enough. Perhaps I’ll revisit the idea after I move.

In the hurricane yesterday I rescued my Davids Tea package which had been in postal jail since Monday. Of course, I haven’t had power since yesterday morning at 6 am so I can’t enjoy it BUT I now have 250 grams of the Black Jasmine Pearls, a tentacles travel mug and the 4 pack of Noble mugs. I had been ogling the teaware for months and couldn’t resist the sale price, despite not needing any more mugs. Ever.

yyz said

Enjoy them all and hope you have power now or at the very least soon.

The black jasmine pearls have been growing in my appreciation. I got 100g when they were selling them in sample packets @ Christmas!

Steepster didn’t tell me you commented!

We still don’t have power but we have great neighbourhood support and fortunately moved all our meat in the freezer to other freezers with power. We had purchased 1/4 of a locally raised cow in the Spring and were very concerned about losing what we had left. I am at work and enjoying tea now though, for once I am glad for work!

If you read my initial tasting note about the pearls I was pretty disparaging about the base and the price but over time I came to adore the jasmine, appreciate the base and lucked into a good deal. They were the same price as Teavivre’s (non-jasmine) black pearls so I bit the bullet.

I’m glad your friends could help you out! I hope that you get your power back soon, and it is nothing like my friend suffered through this winter (17 days! She was for once glad to live in an older house with working fireplaces).

It sounds like your impression was similar to mine of this tea. At first I didn’t particularly like the base as well, but I did like it more than the tealux jasmine black. Now I enjoy them.

There was a big midwestern ice storm a few years ago, we didn’t have power for a few days and it was super cold outside. No one could drive anywhere, so we ended up heating up canned soup over candles using our Thanksgiving buffet set up, and wearing lots of clothes/blankets to keep warm. Luckily we still had hot water so we could run the hot water for steam to help get warm too.

I remember that ice storm!! Crazy stuff.

yyz said

I’ve been really lucky the most I’ve ever been out is a few days. My friends power just came back in time to host Christmas dinner ( divine intervention?). The storm did allow for some unique experiences though like ice skating on the street. On the other hand my roommates sister was a refugee in our house for over a month after the ice storm that hit eastern Ontario and Quebec in the min 90’s. They lived in the countryside and were a low priority for the utility companies.

Once the food was saved, the worry was off. If it were winter we would have to have a generator as we run a wood furnace but it needs electricity to circulate the heated water. Either that or let everything freeze which is not a good plan. We borrow water for toilet flushing from our neighbour with a generator. Many other areas have power so we can go somewhere with power for things like tea. I am on mug four at work today. MMM!

Uniquity said

Also, 17 days is insane. I don’t know how civilized I would feel at that point. We have gotten to know our neighbours better though, maybe that would seal the deal.

As seems to be this seasons tradition I received one of my aliexpress orders today
This is part of a keemun experimentation

http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6116453588.html

The packaging was really simplistic. I’m glad the teas are so different from each other. One is really tarry and the other is very chocolate smelling.

They also sent me two beans with Chinese writing on them. I should take a picture of them maybe someone can let me know what they mean, or at least the tradition behind them.
The service and communication was really good though.

I received my green terrace samples. Lishan black, GUI fei, and Li Shan Oolong’s. Thanks!

And for fun my 52teas grab bag along with banana pudding.

I got rum raisin ice cream black
Cantaloupe watermelon white
OYGFIB
And SBT: Whiskey and Cola.
A nice variety.

I love my new mailman. As long as it’s not too big he’ll leave everything in the mailbox or between the doors!

Dexter said

Enjoy your teas – don’t you love when mailmen just leave packages rather than sending them to jail. Mine too has recently been leaving them – just makes everything so much easier. :))

I think our mailman really likes us, he often comes to the door just to be nice (and we have a lot of steps up to our front door). He always has this booming HELLO! and acts like it makes his day to see us. Might be the cookies I made for him one day.

yyz said

That’s awesome Dexter. I agree it makes everything so much easier, it’s such an improvement from the previous substitute mail person who wouldn’t even attempt to make a delivery.

yyz said

Sounds like it Marzipan! Our previous mail person was wonderful, and knew a lot of people on her route that’s one of the reasons why the in between substitute was so frustrating!

yyz said

Those beans are cute! What’s the deal???

yyz said

I have no idea! I’ll have to ask them when I do my order confirmation if no one here has an ideas. It’s the two beans with writing on both sides.

boychik said

Oh those beans must be lucky beans( just guessing)

Awww, love the beans, never seen them before, thanks for sharing….lol, maybe they are cute little tiny mini teapets?

yyz said

That would be cute, but they seem to be real beans.

yyz said

They are lucky beans!

’ It is a kind of lucky beans, the above are carved Chinese words of blessing and so on. You can also put it into the garden, it will be able to sprout and growth. ’

yay for lucky beans

Another ridiculous mail day…

Samples I ordered from Whispering Pines (North Winds, Fujian Black, Ailaoshan Black). Ironically, I made an order a couple days later so I have another ounce coming of two of these… :P

A generous sample of Verdant’s Golden Fleece from MzPriss! She didn’t even want anything in return! Thank you, and it got here so fast!

A most ridiculously large Yunnan sample pack from Nicole. And when I say ridiculous, I mean 22 different teas ridiculous! Technically this was a swap, but I didn’t send her anywhere near this amount of tea. They’re from several companies, primarily Yunnan Sourcing, Upton, Whispering Pines, and a couple others. Thanks so much Nicole, you’re amazing! :)

yeehaw!

boychik said

It will keep you busy for sure ! Enjoy! Can’t wait for your notes

boychik, my goodness, I was already busy with all the new teas I got on Saturday! Lol. Too many kind people sending me ridiculous amounts of tea samples! :) AND I have more coming from Whispering Pines and The Persimmon Tree! #firstworldproblems

This is awesome!

TheTeaFairy, clearly I am developing a problem! Teehee. I’ll definitely be going on buying (and possibly swapping) hiatus after the rumored Butiki sale! :P

Well then I can join you Cameron…I plan for Butiki to be my last order until Black Friday…sigh, at least that’s the plan.

Well I don’t know about that long… Lol! Almost all of my teas are sample sizes (although TeaVivre’s samples don’t really count as sample size…) so it shouldn’t take me long to sip a lot of it down. Butiki is the last company than I’m dying to try, so I don’t see any reason for spending after that. :)

Nothing… still. Where are you, Green Terrace?? Their teas looked good I’m a little excited (or impatient) to try them.

Oh no!!! Don’t give up hope Lariel, I just got mine today. They do look very nice and well packaged…i really hope you get yours tomorrow :-)

I haven’t received them either. Everyone seems to be enjoying theirs. WANT.

I got some of my Whispering Pines teas today and got more coming behind those lol :)
And I got my Shan Valley teas today too.
I dunno what to try first, all my whispering pines teas look and smell so good.

Aaaah! I envy you Tommy…I’m in Canada, so I’ll have to wait a little longer.

LOL, I did the same as you, I have two orders coming back to back…just could not resist the 4th of july sale and the new irresistible El Dorado!

Another great tea day!
I got my part of the 52Teas order from Marzipan, she’s such a saint of organizing it all!
I also got my Den’s Tea sampler.
And I got my Tea at Sea order. I guess I forgot to put my apt # when I ordered, so I’m happy it still got here. It was mailed in a bubble mailer, and it was kinda beat up. The envelope had a tear it in, but luckily nothing feel out. And a couple of the tins are dented.

Yay for Den’s!

A while back, I’d placed an order with DAVIDsTEA, and included their milk oolong in the order. I really didn’t like it, and I figured out it was because it was flavoured, which the website indicated, but the packaging did not. Anyway, I contacted their customer service, to make sure mine was indeed flavored, which it was. Mine was in an old package, but it shouldn’t have been. Anyway, they said they’d send me a free sample of the vanilla orchid oolong. Cool. They sent me 50g of it, and three free samples. Wow! That was way more than I ever expected.

Hey that’s a good customer service story :)

davidstea is always super creative with customer service issues. This is just great, super happy for you Cheri :-)

Cheri select said

They did take care of me, and Natalie tracked down that my tea was in the wrong package. She was fun and funny when we emailed, and definitely surprised me.

MzPriss said

Is Vanilla Orchid Oolong good? It sounds good.

I haven’t tried it yet. I’m still in the middle of two tea boxes at once.

The Great Canadian Travelling Tea Box, Round 3 was just delivered to my doorstep. I opened it a few minutes ago, and kapow! The fragrance of tea was nearly overwhelming.
