Would you be more likely to write reviews if it could get you Free Tea?

I just started a loyalty program where you earn Tea Points by purchasing tea and/or by writing reviews. I set it up so that every review gets you 10 points and every $1 purchase is worth 1 point. If you bought $40 in tea and wrote 4 reviews, you would just about have enough (80 tea points) for one of our 2 oz. teas.

What do you think of it? Our goal with this idea is to encourage honest/candid feedback from you. Even if you write an unflattering review, you still get rewarded.

Thanks!

I really like this idea :)

There is definitely incentive to write reviews if there are points involved. In fact, outside of Steepster, I never write reviews on other sites unless there are point incentives.

I am super lazy about logging my teas so any incentive helps!

I’m with babble on that one. no incentive to write reviews outside of steepster unless there are points or the company specifically takes time to ask me in a non generic fashion to do so.

I can totally understand how, no matter how much you may like a tea, writing a review just isn’t a priority when you have a thousand other things on your plate…unless, of course, there is some incentive. I find myself doing the same thing with awesome products I purchase or great restaurants I visit.

Incentive for me only gets your tea to the top of the “to review” list. I review pretty much any tea that isn’t just so not to my liking that I have absolutely nothing positive to say about it. The difference between a tea I get for free versus one I pay for is I feel an added responsibility and duty to the tea company to provide such review. It won’t get a better review but it will get done faster. So yes incentives do help.
Incentives also help to promote future orders. With so many great tea companies out there if I have some points – even a few dollars off to off set shipping, I am more likely to order from that place if I am trying to decide between a handful of companies to order from.

I have started writing reviews because it helps me become more acquainted with tea. Doing these reviews also teaches how to taste tea and expands my knowledge of the terms used to describe tea. Honestly, incentives would definitely make me write more reviews, and at a faster pace! They would also allow me to familiarize myself with teas sold by companies from which I have never ordered before, thereby creating a potential of future purchases.

For reviews on our website, I can track it pretty easily. However, what method do some of the other tea companies use to award you points for Steepster reviews? Are you notifying them of your review via email? For me, name and email will be the only way to identify a customer and award points.

I would! I usually try to review any tea I drink, especially if it was unusual or I really liked it. Some extra incentive of getting MORE tea would be great.

For sure! Teavivre gives you $0.50 back (through their points system) for every review and they’re the only site that I write a review for EVERY tea.

Oh man, I should really put some reviews on Teavivre. I’ve had a bunch of their teas!
