Iced tea maker?
Hey y’all; I’m on the hunt for a good iced tea maker; I’ve never made iced loose leaf and would like something affordable but high quality.
I have the blue infusion tea pitcher from teavana. $24.95.

I really like it. It has a removable filter for the tea, you can remove the filter while still keeping the lid on the tea. You can use it to brew hot tea or iced tea. Made of some kind of strong plastic, BPA free.
The only issue I had was I used ceylon tea once and it stained the mesh on the filter, but it did not leave any taste or smell.
I use the Takeya pitchers, work wonderfully! It’s the same as the Teavana one.
I’ve got the same one and I really like it. I have a slightly different version that DavidsTea used to sell with a small infusion basket so you steep in the little pitcher, then pour the hot tea into the other one full of ice for instant iced tea. I love it and can’t wait to use it again.
I have the same one from Davids Tea as well, I cold steep in it daily. Been using it for almost a year (300 steeps +) and still in perfect condition. I highly recommend it!
This might sound silly, but are there any tricks to cold steeping? Or do you use the same amount as leaf as you would otherwise, then just let it sit all day? I’ve never tried it.
You use the same amount per cup, even a little less can work. Then you keep it in the fridge for at 4-24 hours, depending on the tea and how you want the flavor to be.
I’ve got the handy cooler from Lupicia, looks same like the ones mentioned above. It’s slim, so it fits on my fridge door. I’ve had it about a year and a half. If you leave the leaves in a long time, the mesh of the strainer will need to be soaked to not stain. The glass feels delicate and thin but it hasn’t cracked yet (knock on wood).
Here’s a link to that Takeya pitcher on Amazon (green top/handle instead of blue), sometimes the price drops under $20 http://www.amazon.com/Takeya-64-Ounce-Silicone-Handle-Avocado/dp/B003DTLNI8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1362104449&sr=8-4&keywords=takeya
I just reviewed the Steep & Chill today from The Tea Spot. Here it is if interested…
