Free Trial Verdant Membership

Received an email that they are offering 200 free first month’s memberships to their subscription service (usually 30$). Was thinking about signing up already. Thanks verdant!
Correction, what they are offering is 7g of each of the teas for free. Still awesome and worth trying out.

I’ve just joined their Tea of the Month Club Bundle. When I joined they had 9 spots left. Now they have only 6: http://verdanttea.com/teas/tea-of-the-month-club-bundle/

I just got my first order from them yesterday and was very impressed by the uniqueness of their teas – so I was really pleased they’re offering that bundle and decided to splurge on it myself. I’m happy to see this great company opening themselves to a wider audience. I have 3 friends who were glad to take them up on the free trial so hopefully the samples hook them! :D

I’m not at the point that i can justify 35$ for 4 half oz :) 30$ for 3 oz is a stretch haha

I joined the tea of the month on black friday. $20 per month. Even with the bundle I’d still be paying full price for the reserve club. I LOVE the tea club though.

I hinted at the beau but he didn’t catch on to the Black Friday deal. :(

lol! I got it by hinting. While i explained it, he kinda just handed me his CC.

Very jealous.

I joined the regular membership on black friday also – I have to say it’s totally worth it! I decided that I’d rather spend $20 per month (so $240) and have the fun of David’s surprise than ordering a few times a year and picking my own.

I don’t think I’ll ever cancel the sub!

I know what you mean. I am so glad I got mine locked in at $20. The best part is sometimes the surprise club exclusives; like the moonlight white pressed cake with the December box.

In a moment of insanity, I joined both TOMC & the reserve club.
It’s more money than I want to spend on ‘random’ teas, and I start thinking, “I should get someone to split these memberships with me” or “I could order a lot of tea for this price.” Then the boxes come, & I sample the amazing teas, and then…
well…
maybe I’ll do it for another month…

I should add that I don’t drink, smoke, gamble, shop for clothes, or any other thing like that. My only addictions are good food & tea, & the quality of Verdant’s teas are amazing!

I considered upgrading to the bundle of both clubs, but I think I am happy with only the reserve club at this point. I have been very pleased with the first couple of packages that I’ve received!

I would love to join the reserve club, but the thought of falling in love with a tea that I will never have the opportunity to have again, is just wya too much to handle!

i considered joining, but with the additional international shipping, i cannot justify 40 USD per month for tea alone, unless i start serving porridge for my kids on a daily basis lol.

Really? I’ve shipped tea to France and such, not much more than shipping in us. I’m I. Minnesota, right by Verdant if you want some I can check shipping to you.

I joined this :) it was the push I needed, I’ve been eyeing this for ages along with the reserve club..however it might actually be good for my tea budget, it will limit it every month automatically, and it’s Verdant teas, so how could I resist!! Knowing me though, I will eventually upgrade to getting both, as well as tea from other places…sigh haha

My problem with it is the $8.50 shipping for 3 samples. I should have read more carefully instead of just jumping at the chance. Oh well. I want a couple months of teas, and then I’ll have to re-evaluate my tea budget and see if I can actually afford it!

Canada? ugh.

Edited- Sil has a following reply that corrected what I thought.

I think NEW Canadian account are charged for shipping.
I’m crossing my fingers that I wont be affected by this since I got the black friday sale.

Hi everyone,

It’s always been our goal to maintain domestic US rates to Canadian customers. USPS has recently doubled package shipping rates to Canada, but we are actively looking at ways to get those shipping costs down and either eliminate them all together or take on more of the costs ourselves. Once that’s done, we will definitely let everyone know! This is the free trial’s “soft launch.” We will definitely see what we can do to keep making it better. I appreciate the support and feedback here on Steepster.

Canadians with current subscriptions will not see shipping added to their plans. While costs have gone up, I would not do that to you guys! It just wouldn’t be very nice :)

OMGsrsly: if you’d like to cancel the subscription, details are included in your club Welcome Letter. Just contact us, and we can refund your shipping at that time as well. Sorry for the confusion about this.

I am going to press Geoffrey our developer to see if we can build a different rate or structure for Canadian customers on Tea of the Month. Right now Canada is grouped with all international rates, but if we could separate it, we would be able to adjust the shipping to reflect the minimum burden possible on customers. Working on it this week! Probably when we open more free trial spots for April, we will have something worked out.

Many Thanks,
David

I have yet to send an email to david but I noticed Canada is now not included in the shipping. So we have to pay the international shipping cost now. Was thinking of adding the bundle but if that means I have to start paying the shipping, I really can’t justify it anymore. :(

BoxerMama said

Really? I hope that doesn’t change for current subscribers!

Sil select said

I would have expected a note by now if they were going to change it for current subscribers. But if i move to the bundle, would i then incur the “new” shipping fee. I basically just got home and in the door so i’ll be sending them a note later to find out :)

BoxerMama said

Please keep me updated! I love the $20.

OMGsrsly said

It is really hard to justify it. I didn’t realize the “free trial” was just 3×7g samples, or I would have just waited for their new teas to come in, and ordered $40 of tea to get free shipping. My bad, though. I didn’t read it carefully enough.

Try emailing or calling verdant?

OMGsrsly said

I just emailed questioning the shipping cost for the samples. I can hardly wait till they get more laoshan black!

Hi Folks,

Just posted above explaining what’s up with Canadian shipping. To reiterate, we definitely won’t be changing rates for current customers.

As for the bundle and the reserve club, thanks for bringing those up here. We just launched the new system to handle all the subscriptions on Friday. When we had to raise rates to Canada because USPS doubled its shipping charges, I put my foot down and maintained that we offer free shipping to Canadians at the $40 US threshold. My intent for the subscriptions is the same. Both bundle and Reserve are above $40, so those should ship without additional charges. It looks like the system is set up right now to treat the threshold as the higher general international rate. I will have it fixed as soon as our developer Geoffrey gets back in on Wednesday.

My goal is to keep the shipping burden as low as possible. Here in Minnesota, many of our Canadian neighbors are even closer than other parts of the USA. I will update here when we get the shipping charge for bundle and reserve taken care of. Thanks for bearing with us!

Sincerely,
David
