Tea and cinnamon toast
If I’m out of pastries, I make cinnamon toast. Or sometimes I’m just in the mood for it. I keep a tin of cinnamon and sugar mix in my cubby.
Can somebody give me a good recipe of cinnamon toast? It seems I never get it right! :(
My favorite and easiest recipe is: make a toast. Spread butter or margarine on it. Spread brown sugar on it (how ever much you want). Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
Thank you Lala, it seems really easy. I think I will try it this evening to accompany tonight’s herbal blend.
Brown sugar? Never tried that. I take an equal amount of white sugar and cinnamon and put it in a tin (or whatever container you wish), shake the tin to mix it together real well. If not enough of a cinnamon taste, add more. Close the tin tightly and save. Served, I butter the toast and sprinkle the cinn/sugar mix to cover the bread or however much you prefer on the toast.
Hmmm… Sounds really delicious. Thank you Forsythia for the tips! You should try it with brown sugar though, you might like more than with white.
My most frequent breakfast is a banana and an English muffin with butter and cinnamon (and a cup of tea, of course). Yum,
I also extremely enjoy Lipton Imperial Cinnamon Spread. Soooooooooooo good on the tastebuds, but not for the body :P
My grandmother always made fresh donuts, and we would slather this spread on.
I might have to go buy some after writing about this!
I didn’t realize this would become such a popular thread.
I had cinnamon toast crunch cereal with my tea this morning :D
Reading this thread made me want cinnamon toast now, with banana slices on it. And I am not hungry in the least, since I just finished dinner. I’m going to put on Neil Young’s Cinnamon Girl and see if the urge passes. I am guardedly hopeful.
This is my favorite bread for making cinnamon toast. I buy it at Woodman’s or Meijer grocery stores. It is unique in that it does not contain raisins (I cannot abide cinnamon bread that has raisins!) and is whole wheat. I toast it, butter it, and eat it along with a nice cup of English Breakfast, or other strong black, tea. Milk optional. ;)
