This is a great help being new with teas. Now I have a great amount of lists to test from- went for my first batch of teas at my local tea dealer-he sells by the oz- not sure what brand or company his teas are from. Ill have to call and find out so I can list them-
Generically, being a newbie-
-Jasmine( which I never get right, always bitter) but good when it’s professionally made somewhere
—Jasmine Pearl(Petes)
I guess the rest are Herbals but…
—Baby Barley tea by Dong suh( Korean company)
—Corn Silk Tea
—bulk chamomile from Mexican markets
Only tried one from my Tea Haul today which was a green tea matcha-has potential
Think tomorrow ill try a pu erh that I got
-seems like I’m starting hard pu erhs and matcha for my first venture into the world of tea -
All or none!

What happened to Pam’s post?!?

Too many hyphens. The code here is such that if you put hyphens around something like this
hyphenteahyphen (But with acutal “-” instead of the word “hyphen”) it shows up like
tea

She used a lot of them, and I’m surprised more of the post wasn’t struck through!

Love reading the lists! I think my list will change in the near future as I have a variety of samples from all new shops coming, but for now…

Brioche – American Tea Room — This will always be on the list. Love this. Can’t live without it.

Masala Chai – American Tea Room — Probably always on list. I haven’t seemed to get sick of it like I do other chai’s

Halmari Estate CTCBOP Assam – Upton — Staple straight black wake me up tea, but could get bumped in the future.

Starry Night – Art of Tea — my favorite vanilla tea at the moment, but always seeking new ones.

Salted Caramel – David’s Tea — Brand new one, not sure if we’re in it for the long haul like Brioche, but starting off strong.

Ah tea. How I love thee, tea.

Jasmine tea – I have had weak Jasmines (in bag) but never a bad Jasmine
Earl Grey – I don’t know if I could ever choose just one
Chai – with the luxury of time, I’d make my own at home
Matcha – a quick pick me up
Oolong Reserve – hopefully this has not ruined all other oolongs for me
Golden Monkey – to sip with a piece of chocolate
Chamomile – ok so this isnt a real tea but i like having it on hand

ok so that was not just five, sue me! hahaha
will add to this as I come across others…

Everytime I think I have a favorite, I get tired of it or it’s stale. (One thing if that happens in my cupboard, whole ‘nother thing if it happens at the store, lol. For some reason I always think that it wouldn’t happen there and then it does…Pouts
So current ‘faves’

Coco Chai Rooibos-Davids Tea
Jessie’s Tea-Davids Tea
Blue Moon White/Peachy Keen White-(Unknown, but I’m sure they are the same company.)
Mojito Black-Unknown (Wasn’t crazy about this one at 1st….but it’s grown on me.)
Peach Tranquility-Teavana (Though truthfully alittle tired of this one.)
Tower of London-Harney and Sons
Earl Grey Supreme-Harney and Sons
Victorian Earl Grey-Unknown
Himalayan 1st Flush Black Tea-Rishi

Yeah I know that’s more the 5….so shoot me:P

yssah said

haha, it is impossible to stop at 5…idk how the others did it

Oh I could have kept going for sure, it does change often and really top ten may have been more reasonable for people with such all encompassing tea collections ;)

I ordered Tower of London so I am excited to try it! I love Paris…

This changes as I try more teas, and 5 is an arbitrary cut off (not sure there is a big difference between 1-5 and 6-10 on my list), but here goes:

Moon over Madagascar – Tea Source
Smores/Eight Candles – Della Terra
Chocolate – Harney and Sons
Rooibos Northern Berry – Zen Tea
Apricot – Harney and Sons, Apricot Carousel – Della Terra, Georgia Sunshine – Tea Source (three way tie for the “fruit” tea)

I’ve got a couple faves from Mariage Freres and Anna’s Tea that are “treats”.

Unflavoured blacks for me :)
-Golden Snail (long discontinued) from Harney and Sons
-Keemun Mao Feng from Harney and Sons (overpriced but wonderful)
-Black Dragon Pearl from Teavivre
-Golden Monkey from Teavivre

I used to LOVE Wild Yunnan Black from Davids but lately have been turning toward my Teavivre favourites instead.

My main staple are Earl Grey Creams. It doesn’t really matter which ones, but my favorites:

SpecialTeas or Element’s Earl Grey Cream (both gone now)
Zentealife.com’s Black Phoenix Pearls & Chocolate mint rooibos
Naturestealeaf.com’s Chocolate midnight black
Golden Moon – Sinharaja
SpecialTeas – Vienna Winter Green (gone)
Fusionteas.com – Pistachio Lime Mate
Harney’s Paris
most anything from Butiki
a nice oolong — there are a ton of good ones and so different
a nice chai — haven’t found the best one yet!

In no order:

Laoshan Black (Verdant Teas)
Premium Taiwanese Assam (Butiki Teas)
Organic Cream of Earl Grey (David’s)
Organic Irish Breakfast (Butiki)
And for the last I’m going to say Awake from Tazo. It’s not so much that I think it’s better than some of my teas, but I enjoy it and I ALWAYS have it since I get a free tin every week.

yssah said

how do you get a free tin? working at Starbux? :)

Chizakura said

Yeah I’m a Starbucks employee, so we get a markout every week. We can take home a pound of coffee, a tin of tea, or a carton of liquid chai once every week. :)

yssah said

ooooh, cool!

Chizakura said

For me that equals to a tin of Awake every week though, heh. I don’t like coffee, I don’t want the liquid chai, and Awake is the only Tazo tea that I like. lol. Ah well, still free tea. :D

Nice perk!!
