To fridge or not to fridge matcha?

I keep my unopened matcha in the fridge to stay fresh. Once opened it goes into a cool dark cabinet. I try to use it within three months because after that it loses its flavor. I have a pack of toyu mukashi that I think I opened in December, it had a really rich green and zuchinni flavor sadly it has lost that zuchinni flavor since then :( once you open matcha drink it quick! And keep the unopened cans in the fridge for safe keeping :)

Matcha should always be either in the fridge (if it’s been opened)or freezer (if it hasn’t). Don’t worry about condensation — using a sieve will take care of any clumps that form.

finish a tin within a month or less…

do you wrap the tin in anything when putting it in the freezer? our freezers in the philippines are the kind that produce ice on the sides ^^’

Ziplock freezer bags.

Based on the recommendations I saw on matcha retailer websites, I have always kept my matcha in airtight tins in the fridge and found that it does very well that way. The tins prevent odors from being picked up and it stays fresh much longer when refrigerated.
