How Weird Would It Be To Create a SEAWEED Tea?
I’m thinking Seaweed with (Vegan) Brown Sugar and Sea Salt

Also thinking this would be a good Green Tea base

Sounds awesome! Someone sent us an idea with seaweed for our custom blend contest and they paired it with citrus for an interesting contrast. I’m really thinking about making that blend.

I bought an instant plum tea with seaweed in it the other day. It was strange and tasted more like a broth than a tea.

Stacy – I thought this one might be up your alley! YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO IT!!!!!!

Its definitely something that I’ve been thinking about.

I was in my local chinese grocery store looking at tea, and they had seaweed tea! It looked like dried and shredded seaweed paper (like what you use to make sushi).

Cheese tea.

interesting!

Emily M said

I love cheese! Don’t know about in a tea, though…

David’s Tea’s milk oolong has always smelled like cheese to me.

Gjetost is a really neat salty caramel cheese that I could see translating into a nice tea.

Planted themed teas. (I’m taking astronomy.)

Think I’ve had the Uranus blend. Sorry, someone was bound to say it. I just wanted to be first.

Hahahaha

tperez said

Lol, I think I’ve had the Uranus blend before too :P

I want Mars tea, or Neptune tea!

Lala said

Can we do planetoid tea and have Pluto?? Although Pluto will always be a planet to me :)

tperez said

Sorry, Pluto only comes in sample sizes

Pluto tea should contain something that is awesome and yet something people take for granted – like vanilla.
<3 Pluto

Mars – rooibos blend with hibscus?
Venus – would need to be something hot like habanero green tea.
TeaEqualsBliss’ seaweed tea would be great for Neptune.
Continuing in my bad taste vein – Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants, so… bean flavored blend!

Mars could also have beet in it, like DT’s Red Velvet Cake (for those who hate hibiscus but like Mars).

Mmm… Martian red velvet cake. Ceres and Eris will have be included in the dwarf planet teas. Mercury would also have to be something hot.

Maybe tea for the sun as well.

TeaLady441 said

Cinnamon spice for mercury?

Pluto Plum….LOVE IT!

Pu-erh based?

Emily M said

Good call Cavocorax. Pu-erh would probably work best. Haha

Gravy tea. Then we can mix it with the cheese tea and have a poutine.

YES!

I thought poutine had potatoes in it too.

Maybe something curry related.. a chai with added curry spices such as garam masala or turmeric. I haven’t seen anything like that.

I think David’s teas has a turmeric tea.

YES!

Pickle Tea???

OMG, PICKLE TEA.

Emily M said

Green tea base?

Well, there is tea that has been pickeled. Awabancha is fermented tea leaves from Japan.

Emily M said

Hmmm… wonder how that tastes?

I’m talking zesty dill pickle here. Vinegar-y, spicy pickles!

Actually, now I want a pickle matcha.

Emily M said

Haha. That would be pretty interesting.

Emily M-Awabancha is pretty interesting. I swapped with Geoffry and he was kind enough to send me a sample. I’m really big into fermented foods so I thought it would be interesting. It smelled a lot more vinegary than it tasted. I was a little worried. Its kind of pickle-y but also there was definitely seaweed notes and something sour-ish and maybe some lemon notes. It was milder than I thought and it was enjoyable.

Emily M said

I might have to look further into this…. Thanks for the info, Stacy!

Wow that tea sounds crazy. I’m really into fermented foods too-my husband makes homemade kimchee and its awesome!

Its definitely worth trying and it is pretty unique.

Stephanie-Nice! Mmmmmm, kimchee. I make some fermented foods too. I have an Indian Spiced Cauliflower that is almost ready for me to test out in a couple days.

Tamm said

That Mango Puerh Chili thing from Teavana tastes just like pickled things to me.

I’d try it! :)
I liked Dill Pickle Chips – why not tea?

Emily M said

TeaEqualsBliss – Yum. Dill Pickle Chips.

Adagio’s White Cucumber smells and tastes like pickle. I found it pretty unpleasant, personally. Anyone who wants it can have it.
