affordable places to order loose leaf tea from in Canada

Hi guys. like the title says, I’m looking for some good affordable places to order tea from in Canada, preferably online! I want to move on from teavana and try something new… any ideas or suggestions?

DavidsTea has good shipping rates! That was whom I ordered the most from when I was in Canada (and lurked in store and drank all the samples!)

I haven’t tried their teas yet, but I found an interesting Etsy seller that is based in Winnipeg that have great prices as well. So good, that next time I visit my family back home I’m gonna order it to ship there and take it back to the US.

Oh, edit, how did I forget Zen Tea? http://www.zentealife.com/index.php They are pretty good too! Vancouver based. Great teaware prices too!

I checked out LuxBerry. They look like they have a nice selection of teas. They have an especially large selection of Rooibos, Green and White Teas. Best of all they have that really rare commodity in Canada, Free Shipping on all teas in Canada!( they only charge shipping on Accessories), no more having to buy more than you really want or need in order to make shipping seem worth it or to make a threshold.

They now have a website as well as the Etsy site

I second Zen Tea they have $5.00 shipping and great fresh teas.
If your in the GTA and like straight Indian Teas Capital Teas http://www.capitaltea.com has $4.00/ free over $35.00 shipping rates vary accross the rest of Canada. Distinctly teas seems to have $5.oo shipping as well. http://shop.distinctlytea.com/store/ . There are several other companies listed in this thread http://steepster.com/discuss/340-which-tea-companies-do-you-know-are-canadian. I found this site recently that offers most of their teas at 3.99 but shipping is 8.99, I can’t speak to the quality though. http://theloosetea.com/ and Cjay teas has expensive (9.99) shipping but offers a wide variety of tea at an affordable price most available at 25g. http://cjaytea.com/upload/

Teavivre (www.teavivre.com)
Davids Tea (www.davidstea.com)
Verdant (www.verdanttea.com)

I frequently buy from these three. :)

Toronto based company called Premium Teas now distributes and sells Harney & Sons Teas online in Canada. Free shipping over $35.

Oh dear.

“Affordable” is in the eye of the beholder on that one.

9 samples is enough to just get over the free shipping threshold, and their “sample” apparently makes 7-10 cups of tea, so I’m guessing 20g? Not too bad.

yeah was looking at it more from the perspective of 17$ for a tin that even with the exchange is 11. :)

That’s true Sil but if you’re talking about the 11 CAD when shipped from the Harney website, the shipping to Canada is $35CAD for which you end up spending a lot more. From Premium Teas, the tea is shipped from Canada and is free over $35 if you’re in Ontario or Quebec. Plus, they offer 10% off on a first time purchase. It’s pretty good I think for the quality you get.

That would depend a bit on what you like to drink. For blends davidstea might be a good option as they have some unique stuff. I don’t think Davids offers great value for their unblended teas so I would look elsewhere for those. ZenTea is decent although I haven’t had much stuff from them. Teavivre would be my recommendation for most teas. They often have sales, they offer samples of everything and they ship fast and cheap. YunnanSourcing and White2Tea is also good if you like puerh, but the shipping is more expensive so it’s better to wait to buy a big order.

If you want to enjoy original premium loose leaf teas but not just flavor teas. I would like to suggest you check Tea Loft & Co. out. They ship different premium tea worldwide. And free shipping in Canada with over $100CAD. I love their Kamairicha which is a Japanese Organic Green Tea. Kamairicha is limited production in Japan, so it is hard to find a nice Kamairicha.
