I have four tattoos as of right now and plan to get many more. I will be getting a tea related one at some point. So many tattoos and not enough time and money to get them…..

I have 3 tattoos, with plans for 3 more…eventually. There’s a certain order I want to do them in and I want a detailed maple leaf next but I can’t figure out where I want to put it. Want it to be special, but don’t want it to take up too much valuable body space that could be used for something bigger.

Here are my tattoos:

I also want a cat on my earlobe and a detailed western-style dragon on my right calf but I haven’t found one I like enough yet.

Wow, the Celtic knot is gorgeous, and I LOVE the cats pouncing. Very nice.

Here’s my Facebook album with many of my tattoos, but most of my newer ones & the completed larger ones aren’t in there. You can also see pics of my newer ones on my instagram tattooed33

I have two tattoos – the first one was a rather humbling and permanent lesson for me about being assertive. When I think about the difference between myself at 20 and now… well, I relied too heavily on the words of others. What was supposed to be a pretty and dainty butterfly became a big blob of black and blue. At some point I would love to get it removed, or replace it with something similar to my second tattoo.

Now that one… yeah, that’s more me. I learned my lessons from the first, and so the second was a lot more personal, meaningful… and easy to hide. I’m a teacher, and not every district is wild about the idea of personal expression during job interviews!

Both my mother and my sister have a lot more tattoos than I do, and after getting a matching one with my sister, Mom was looking to do the same with me. Now this could have been in the planning stages for a while, but I was finishing my Masters degree and about to head up to the Alaskan bush to start my career. We decided on a Celtic knot, representing balance, and a henna-like color because the idea of taking something normally transitory and making it permanent appealed to us.

I love the celtic knot and the henna color! I did something very similar with my tattoos :)

I have two tattoos in the works, but they aren’t small. One is a full chest piece that says “Unity” which is my little girl’s middle name. The other will eventually be a full sleeve of flowers and paisley. I love tattoos.

neat! i envy all of you…i can’t think of anything i wouldn’t get tired of just yet…

My only regret was not getting more when I had a rockin’ body! lol

I think the worst part about having tattoos in the works is the waiting. I have plans for so many more, but not enough time.

Sil – choose something that means something to you. Even if your tastes/interests change, the tattoo becomes a part of you and will always remind you of that time in your life. It’s not just about “won’t get sick of”. That’s just my thoughts – you of course need to choose or not choose whatever is right for you.

BoxerMama – Agreed. Wish I had them when younger – some of the clothes I would need to wear to show them off may not be “age appropriate”.

haha love you guys! :)

Not enough time, not enough money, not enough skin….. I need to start choosing wisely what skin I’m willing to use for which project.

I’m still fairly young, or at least I’d like to think so. My problem is my gym time is fighting with my “sitting on my @$$ watching netflix” time and you can guess whose winning. lol

Sorry, BoxerMama. I misinterpreted what you had written. My mistake. :))

So….do any of you see any overlaps or commonalities between your love of tattoos and your love of tea? Any similarities in how you collect or look forward to having new? How they manifest your inner self or how you built your collections, the satisfaction(s) you get out of them.

I see similarities only in how I get satisfaction from them.
Collection wise- tattoos I stick to very few artists, tea I buy from everywhere.
I don’t necessarily think most of my tea comes from anything inwards (except maybe flavours that are reminiscent of childhood memories). And only in that instance do my tea & tattoo collection compare.

My tattoos are a clear representation of who I am, inside, emotionally, physically, moments in my life, people I love and things I am passionate about.
My tea is a hodge-podge of everything.

Was just thinking about this thread last week and thought about bumping it because it is a fascinating topic. I still would love to get more tattoos but still got to wait till I’ve lost a significant amount of weight and saved up money, not to mention got to save up for a place to live too.

Bah. Priorities suck.

I thought I’d posted in this, hm…

I’ve currently 16 piercings, having retired 4 of them for various reasons. Two small tattoos (the symbols for my leather family). Once scarification (a star outline on one calf).

Two of the retired piercings were those that made up my industrial; I took them out about 6-8 months ago in preparation for the ear pointing I’m getting done in July.

Ahhhh I so want to get my ears pointed. You will have to let me know how that was! We don’t have anyone near by who does it. But do have someone coming close next week, but it wasn’t enough warning for me.

How did you find the scarification in comparison to your tattoo?

Dustin said

So how did the ear pointing go? Who did you have do it? I have been looking into it for years. I like the look of Steve Hayworth’s earlier pointed ear work the best, but I haven’t seen any of his more recent ears.

Hiyas. The scarification was more intense than the tattoos. Mostly because it took longer and was more involved and I did it myself (I’m a mod artist, not random idea thing). The tattoos were tighten-face painful at points because they were on the inside of my wrists, but scarification is slower and move around much more tissue. I did minor tissue removal, not just straight or notched cutting for it.

My ear pointing went well but a little mixed. Turns out I’ve Really Stiff Cartilage so it was a bit tricky having it done. The person who did it was amazing… great human relations, wonderfully clean and skilled work.

They are still healing and I’ll need at least one touchup. They are healed now to the point where the flesh is all together as it should be but the scars are still fading. I could talk to the artist about my touchup now but I’m going to wait til after an event I’ll be at in June as I don’t want them healing during that.

I’m really loving them and have had a person ask if they are naturally like that or were altered purposefully, so I take that as a good sign lol.

Procedure didn’t hurt due to locals, was done in a few hours, and the heal up is basically going how and at the speed I expected from being familiar with my other modifications.

The person who did it is Brian Decker. Again, really great to work with and I intend to see him about some other mods I want in the future as I’m very pleased with his skill and cleanly work habits.

Dustin said

Cool. I have seen some of Brian’s ear work, but I didn’t like how close to the top of the ear he made the points in the examples I saw. I am also not fond of the look where there is a big patch of skin going across the top of the ear, but it also looks like he is trying different methods. His scarification work is amazing!

Glad to hear you are loving them so much! SOME day I’ll have it done!

I just had my first consult with a new artist for a new piece (half-sleeve, huzzah!) and I had to resurrect this thread in celebration. :)

So far I have two tattoos – one side piece and one on my arm – and a scarification that I’m really quite fond of, not to mention a whole handful of piercings in all sorts of places.

It’s great to hear that I’m not the only tattooed tea-drinker out there…
