Keeping leaves in the cup

The Republic of Tea has these new travel mugs:

It appears that the leaves are meant to be left in the container while you are drinking the tea. This idea appeals to me, but am not sure what the taste or health implications are since all the “rules” are to take the leaves out after a few minutes of steeping. I am wondering what your thoughts are about leaving the leaves in.

Leaving the tea leaves in is entirely a preference thing. It is no different then someone that prefers a short steep to a long steep. Some teas may get very strong or possibly bitter if left steeping for too long. But as far as I am aware there are no health implications.
