Best online store...

To date I have only purchased tea from Teavana and Adagio. What is the cheapest site with the best quality stuff?

It all depends on what you’re looking for. A lot of people think differently. My personal opinion is look for a company that ships directly from the area depending on what kind of tea you want (i.e. China for pu erhs) or at the very least specializes in one type of tea. I love Den’s Tea for Japanese greens.

Basically looking for great tea at good prices. I really enjoy greens but find myself liking black teas more and more.

You’ll probably want to keep an eye on the Steepster Select deals, if you aren’t already! :)

i sadly don’t’ shop much in the way of price comparison, more taste comparison – but i suggest looking at the “free” and “discount” threads going as sometimes there are great coupons

I love the companies where I can buy samples on the cheap. So far I have ordered from Adagio and Upton Tea. I ordered from The Simple Leaf on Friday and should receive that order this week. I buy a lot of tea local from T.J.Maxx and health food stores. We also have a Whole Foods which carries a lot of tea.

Harney and Sons also has samples of a lot of their teas. They’re EXTREMELY friendly, generous, and prompt. I do wish their steeping parameters would be a bit better though.

Upton Tea , Samovar, Golden Moon, and Simple Life offer samplers and good quality tea. Online tea reviews are also helpful.

I second Lori. Also American Tea Room sells very nice samples at about $2.00 a pop. If you think of how much you’d pay for tea at Star$$ or at another public house, it’s a good deal. I’ve got a lot of samples from Harney & Sons, Upton’s, Samovar, Golden Moon, and also some samples from swaps with people here.

My recommendation is to find some teas at a decent price that you really like and invest in them. I always start with a Lapsang Souchong in the morning, because it has decent caffeine, a taste that I like (I’m possibly the only one). Then I sample tea throughout the day and decide what teas are worth permanent investments.
While there are some incredibly costly teas, my beverage budget has gone down considerably since I switched from coffee.

It might be a foolish economy to get a “Mart” Special for 25 cents and to end up hating it when you could get another special for 50 cents and really love it.

I ordered some tea from Floating Leaves which turned out to be very good tea, but very pricey. I have ordered twice now directly from China from Yunnan Colorful on Ebay and am very happy with the tea, the service and the price. I am saving up for a third order.

I’ve purchased tea from www.theteatable.com and I was really satisfied. With every order you get to choose three free samples, and their prices are really affordable. And unlike other tea websites you order by the ounce, in stead of every 2 or 3 ounces.

I would recommend the Bourbon Street Vanilla Rooibos, I’ve also tried the Bourbon Vanilla black tea they have just to compare, but I didn’t like it as much. It was slightly bitter, and when compared to the rooibos it was even more obvious.

Overall I would still rate The Tea Table a 10/10. would(will) buy again.

I’ll have to give them a try as their price for Roasted Mate is pretty fair.
