Those were interesting. I’ve always found the bottled green tea to be a joke. You know there’s a problem when they have diet green tea…

Too bad about the milk thing, but I’m still going to add it to (only) my black teas. Taste preference. Also, hot matcha latte anyone?

I already knew about the milk thing. Good thing for me I don’t like milk in my tea anyway.

I have heard the same thing about milk. But, the article title is very misleading. It is true that milk may cause the tea to lose some antioxidants, but not all or even most of them. I think that is a dangerous article title because it is not accurate. The fact that some antioxidants are damaged is not a big deal. Drinking milk with tea is still a good idea and is still relatively healthy. I hate this type of lazy journalism because the result is a lot of confusion created that is undeserved.

From the NY Times, too…

I wonder if milk causes any more loss than the antioxidants Hojicha loses after roasting. I never considered that a deal breaker. I drink tea for taste and health. As long as there is something still nutritious left in it, good enough for me.

All these studies that I read contradict one another’s results, I don’t know what to think. Some say milk does nothing (I read these so long ago, I can’t remember where they’re from, but I do know they were legitimate). Regardless, I don’t keep in mind the health benefits tea offers, just the taste and overall experience.

As for the second article, of course loose tea is going to be more expensive than bagged tea. What’s the hullabaloo? Also, they’re looking at Lipton, Bigelow, and bottled stuff as the primary material? :/

Going for the taste and overall experience seems to be the best strategy!

Sure, I’d love it if puerh helped me lose weight, and green tea prevented cancer and … etc. etc. But I enjoy it for what it is.

Le what?
They compared the antioxidant level of GYOKURO to lipton? saying while Gyo has more it is also more expensive. . they just compared Gyo to the stalest crappiest sencha? really? It would have been better to compare one of teavanas regular senchas and then looked at the price difference. >.< oy vey. Oh, and lipton can be brewed once, where as the gyo should be able to be brewed ~3X per serving.
