Best unflavored teas for iced tea
Anyone have a favorite tea to use for ice tea. No flavorings preferably black since I already drink Ito En Oi Ocha bottled green tea, the only bottled tea I ever buy.
I haven’t tried it but I would think Russian Caravan from t Leaf T might taste good cold. Its one of my favorite hot teas, with a somewhat alkaline smoky flavor. It is easy to over-steep however. Extra Russian Caravan from the same company would probably be too strong.
For iced tea I generally just use Twinings or Amanzi Black though.

Does breakfast tea count? I’ve been wanting to try that as a cold- brew.
I made a pot of Yunnan Royal gold and this made an incredible ice tea. Maybe the best I’ve ever had. Chilled it down with ice cubes made of very dark green tea. Very nice combo.
I really like second flush musk darjeelings cold steeped. It’s like drinking liquid divinity. It’s a wee bit cost prohibitive to make it an every day thing, though.
I used up my Whispering Pines Manistee Mononrise Blend by cold brewing it today and it was really delicious—refreshing with a hint of smoke. Husband loved it too.
EDIT: Wow, was I distracted last night or what? Not an unflavored pure black, duuuuuh. Sorry guys.
For an inexpensive and readily available option, Twinings English Breakfast is very tasty as a cold brew. I have been cold brewing everything lately to see how it works out, and this one works out well.
