2013 pu-erh.sk Bada.

How do you like it?

I thought it was awesome, but was hesitant to say anything, as I suspect others may dissagree. Really punchy, medicinal bitterness, lots of energy/qi, some throat feel. “Drain-cleaner” flavor, but in a way I found enjoyable.

Thx for your impressions. I’ve ordered some more samples from Peter and can’t wait to brew them up.
BTW, how could someone in his right mind disagree with what you taste and/or like?

Ordering more samples from Peter is something I heartily approve of :)

This tea in particular strikes me as one that would be polarizing in opinion. I could easily see someone describing it as rough tasting, and furthermore uncomfortable on the body. An uncompromising tea, I guess.

I HATE to ask this, because I know it’s going to cost me money, but Peter who?

Thanks for mentioning Ancient Spirit, unkle bob. I forgot to update the amount I have on my tea spreadsheet. When I tried the sample, I had to buy a cake. That happens way too often these days.

A friend and me just finished some 1990’s ripe CNNP that I brought back from my first trip to Yunnan in the late 90s. Since I usually don’t drink ripe pu most of the ripe cakes from those days are still untouched but the ongoing crap weather convinced me to break into one of the CNNP bings today and I’m glad I did. My friend isn’t much of a shu drinker either but both of us really enjoyed this particular cake and she left the session pretty tea drunk.

Chwangshop 2016 Yibang Manguishan Xiao. I cant remember much of what I thought of it, have had a busy last few days, but I do remember it had a punch & i thought people who cant stomach sheng wouldnt like it. I need a clearer session without outside influence

2016 EoT Wuliang H. I like this one! deep fruit-medicine-twist. Nice leaf taste, still delving into it but I like already – it has one of those tastes I cant describe apart from green leaf with edges of neon pink. lol

2012 EoT Baotang. Like the Bada from Pu-erh.sk, this is clearly in that in-between of youth and starting to feel aged stage, and this time I think the flavor is on the less pleasant side of this. A lot more mellow as well, which causes me not to like it as much, as I really enjoy tea with some punch. Still, this is pretty cheap for a 2012 of decent material, and has pretty good qi for the price. But if I was going to buy more youngish sheng from EoT, I think I would just pick up more of the Wuliang H.

2016 monkey mini tuo , this was surprisingly good tea for a mini tuo and a very young one at that.

It was really golden color, it almost felt like it had a couple years of age on it.

20008 Jingmai Crimson Lotus. WOW. Polar reviews!

I think its lovely. half way through the session it is now so nommy, not sour but grapey fruit. so good.

edit* just went to buy some, ouch – its the expensive one isnt it. Damnit! (its a sample from a swap with bad pasty so i’m drinking blind.) stupid expensive tastes :(

Too stuffed up to drink nice teas, so tossed a couple YS ripe mini tuos into my 120mL gaiwan (so like 11g), and am brewing some thick and comforting shou. My shou pu gets the most love when I’m sick lol.

1998 Dongting brand heicha brick from CWS. Has the liquor color and profile of an aged (factory?) sheng from 98, vaguely speaking. Nice and smooth and ready to drink, no dankness, rancidity, or any of that. A bit of calming feels. Got a touch of that play-doh vibe going on. So super compressed that it refuses to decompress despite many infusions, so I’m compelled to thermos or boil this later.
