Lots of new users joining suddenly...?
Every once in awhile I’ll put the explore page on to see if there are any new users posting interesting things. When I do this I usually see a few people joining within an hour span. In the last couple of days, ever time I click it, there are literally a hundred an hour joining and with very questionable user names. Are these likely scammers? Or has Steepster just exploded with users? Go click and watch for a minute. The names are pretty funny (And look very computer generated)

Wordnoodle8. Teehee! These names are all word-noodles. I’m so adopting that as a real word now. Right up there with plock, brillibots, amazeballs, awesomesauce and spungle!
how about couchdust1? that’s the alias I’m going with someday. But wordnoodle is great too. ROFL
Onionocelot734 is pretty funny. I picture some onion bulb with leopard spots.

Yeah, they all have the same template for names. They all have two words and a number. Preeeety suspicious :/
definitely automated spambots joining, prepare for a massive wave of spam soon when they figure out how to actually post.

ETA: And it’s sent. I gave an example of all these names copied directly from the explore tab at a place where there were many right after each other and asked him to keep an eye on the situation.
I had a reply from Jason. He says they’re aware of it and working on making it stop, and that it seems like they’re using Steepster as a platform to spam from rather than spamming the site itself.

Thanks for the heads up. We had noticed it and are working to shut it down because they certainly automated signups. If there’s a silver lining, they don’t seem to be attacking our site, but they’re probably using the Steepster accounts to spam out to other sites. Hoping to have it locked down soon though.

I don’t know why I get such a kick out of this, but I do! I keep finding myself laughing when I read them. Easily amused I guess!
oh me too, I had to make sure to post them to facebook too because I have a friend that uses cone in his usual usernames, so I had to make sure coneparent was seen!
I have to ask myself why I keep coming back to this thread, knowing I can’t help laughing at random. I did a major ab workout day before yesterday and I’m feeling it today. It hurts so bad to laugh! gah!! I’m not crying from laughter, it’s the pain! and I keep coming back for more. . . what is wrong with me?? don’t make me laugh you guys!
oh, it doesn’t matter, damage is done. Im going to randomly laugh about this during dinner later too, and no one will know that half of the drama is my pain, but I’ll be making quite a scene.
