Where can I buy a yixing tea pot?

I’m looking into getting my first yi xing pot and I’m a bit unsure of where I could find one. Since its my first I don’t really want to spend too much ( 40-60 range preferably), since it is my first. Any suggestions? Any tips on yixing as well like teas for it and care (I’ve researched it myself but always open to more info) is also appreciated. Thankyou!

I don’t have a yixing tea pot but I am desperately wanting one. I’ve bought lots of tea from Mandala and have found that they have amazing customer service and quality teas. If I were going to buy one they would be near the top of my list of contenders.

I’ve never bought anything from Teavivre but they have a really good reputation here – I’m sure I will order tea from them at some point. They also might be worth looking into.

I don’t have any advice on care or seasoning of them. When I get one, I would use it for Shu pu’erh, but that’s just me.

TeaVivre has excellent customer service and I’ll second the recommendation. I’ve been looking into purchasing one as well and will most likely order from them when I do.

I bought one from Teavivre and two from Yunnan Sourcing, all of which have been great pots.

I’ve also bought one from the Wisdom China Ebay store, which looked nice but turned out to be pretty junky, I would not recommend them.

Yunnan Sourcing, I don’t think I even looked there. Oh wait, that’s right, I’m NOT allowed to look at their website. I could get into such trouble on that site – like 15 pu’erh cakes trouble. LOL :))

You and me both, but I love their stuff. If you feel yourself being tempted just march yourself back over to the Black Friday support group and we’ll help you out ::grins::

Right, if I could just buy tea ware and not tea, all would be ok. Sometimes its hard not to look….

I recently bought my first Yixing from Mandala & I love it. Garret was super helpful, sending suggestions for seasoning, etc. I’ve also been looking at others on the forbidden site (yunnan sourcing…sigh…) & a few other places. It’s only a matter of time before I have one for sheng & one for shu (the current one is for lovely roasted wuyi oolongs).

Its so hard not to want to try everything! Especially with pu’erh when you can justify it to yourself under the pretense of aging it. I made a really big YS order a few months back, but I’ve been pretty “good” since then and haven’t bought any more tea/teawares.

I’m hoping to hold off till Black Friday too! I don’t have as many teas as some people, but I have quite a few that are 2oz+

This thread is getting me in trouble. Still NOT ALLOWED to look at Yunnan Sourcing. I am not strong enough to ONLY buy tea ware, would end up getting tea too. I have one picked out at Mandala that I totally adore, but again would have to order tea too . Not possible to order from Mandala and not get tea (and we also know you can’t just have one pot so will probably get that one too at a later date). Sooooo, I found something I like at Teavivre, haven’t bought it yet, but I think I could just but teaware… Will see how the rest of the night plays out….

This sure feels like the beginning of a slippery slope….

it’s seriously a slippery slope. I have 3 so far and I feel I need more. I’ve so far restricted myself to only needing a pot for tea types, but I can still see myself expanding that.

I recently got a yixing from Yunnan sourcing.us. Look at both the US and .com site – they have the same stuff but shipping prices differ greatly.

http://yunnansourcing.com/
FYI, they got 9% coupon code right now.

I did a blog post on unboxing mine http://oolongowl.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/yixing-pot-2/
Yunnan sourcing packages their teaware very very well!

That is the cutest little teapot! I have had the Yunnan sourcing site open on my browser for weeks and have been eyeing both the green tone ones. I finally took the plunge and bought the same one! The last one in stock too. Can’t wait to get it. I am going to use it for my favorite oolongs.
If I ever get into pu’er I will have to get a couple more teapots. They are just adorable. I love the idea of having to take care of them long term like a little pet!

Edit*** the .com site has a number of this teapot still.

I definitely like the tea pots on yunnan. I didn’t even realize this site existed. So excited!

Yunnan Sourcing mentioned “Cha qi,” which of course prompted me to do a Google search, and I came up with this nifty blog: http://teamasters.blogspot.com/2006/01/cha-qi-discussion.html

Purepuer.com also has some lovely pieces. We have purchased quite a bit of tea ware from them.

Yunnan sourcing. After I bought several cheap Yixing teapots on ebay, I finally had the sense to buy two pots at Yunnan Sourcing – and there’s just no comparison. They have a good selection of pots within your price range, and they are worth every penny.
