In Explorer this morning, wouldn’t let me add a tasting note; hit the button and it threw me back to the dashboard. It’s working OK in Chrome.

Are you still experiencing this? Can you make sure you’re logged in correctly by clearing your browser cookies? Otherwise, this should be fixed now.

gmathis said

Working fine now without any additional cookie operations. (Cookie operation…hmm…I believe I could stand to operate on some white chocolate chip macadamias…)

Jason select said

Glad to hear it’s working.

Cookie operations also made me think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgDLryzDzYg

OK, I guess I need to catch me up on some Despicable Me’s. Haven’t seen either :)

Same thing happened to me (but I was accessing via Safari on iPhone, though that usually works fine). Click “add tasting note”, get green “loading” pop-up, then sent back to dashboard without tasting note screen pop-up. Seems to be working in Firefox v.22 (via laptop) though!

This should be fixed now. Are you still having this problem?

I can no longer comment on anything when viewing steepster on safari (v. 6.0.5) on my mac. Visiting steepster.com takes me to my dashboard but in the top right corner it indicates that I’m not logged in. When attempting to comment I am prompted to log in or register but clicking on the links takes me back to my dashboard. Strange!

For anyone with the same problem, I can comment and go about my business normally in firefox so that is a temporary solution.

EDIT: It seems to be a cookie problem. Deleting your cookies (well just the specific steepster data) will fix it, posting form Safari now trouble free. To do this on Safari go Safari → Preferences → Privacy and click ‘details’ under Cookies and other website data. From there you should be able to search for steepster and delete the appropriate stuff. Hope that helps :)

had the same problem on chrome, I had to clear the cookies for the site to force it to log me out, and then log back in.

Kittenna said

Thanks for mentioning this, guys! I’m having the same problem in Safari; I’m logged in, but it thinks I’m not. I logged in via Firefox instead, and will try clearing cookies in Safari.

Dinosara said

I had this problem, and your fix worked for me! Thanks!

momo said

Since I ended up just clearing everything in Chrome here are supposedly instructions for clearing a certain site, I don’t get it but I’m still half asleep if this helps anyone else https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647

Thanks! I cleared my cookies, and am now logged in, even though my shopping list is huge now. I better start saving up! (same bug that Kittena mentioned.)

Lala said

I also having shopping list bug.

Uniquity said

Thanks for that fix, it was bugging me.

Thanks, that worked for me. I had the same problem in Chrome.

wheezybee said

Chrome was doing this on my Mac, so thanks for the fix!

Ah, thanks for this thread! I was having the same issue with Chrome on my Acer, but clearing the cookies solved it! :)

Uh oh, actually maybe not. I still can’t like anything. It says I’m not logged in…even though I am. Clearing cookies doesn’t seem to have solved this part.

Yes! It worked for me too!! I had to try it twice tho. lol

Jen M said

Thanks for the cookie fix. I was having that exact problem with using Steepster on Safari; that solved my problem.

AJ said

Yes, I had the same problem. Although I just brought up Chrome’s Incognito Mode to re-log in. Here’s a screenshot of the error:

You are both logged in and not. View-only. Unable to post and comment.

I cleared my cookies this morning and it was working but now it’s doing it again. I would really love to not have to constantly clear all my cookies on my phone every hour :(

Josie Jade said

Every time I come back to my computer I am having to clear my cookies and it’s driving me crazy, because all of the other websites that I have open automatically close!

Jason select said

Another short cut, instead of clearing your cookies, is to click http://steepster.com/logout or type that into your address bar. That should log you out and allow you to login again, which should solve that issue.

Jason select said

@BrewTEAlly Sweet: Looks like mobile login is working now. Are you still having login problems?

Jason select said

@Josie Jade: Let me know if you’re still having the consistent login problems and the trick above (clicking the logout link) doesn’t work for you.

Hoping to get all these wrapped up soon. We’re making progress.

Another thing – when I click to log in via gmail, I get an error page. Twitter and Facebook redirected just fine, but not gmail (although for whatever reason I could also log in with my email and a password… one that definitely isn’t my gmail password.) So maybe at some point, I had it set up both ways?

Jason select said

If you signup with an external service we also have you create a Steepster password, so you’ll still be able to login in cases like this.

Google login not working is on our list.

Also just noticed that my number of “teas on shopping list” is actually the number of tasting notes I have, both 1880.

Josie Jade said

Ditto for me too!

Jillian said

I noticed the same problem.

Angrboda said

I have this too.

Mike select said

This should be fixed :)

Angrboda said

Yes, mine is normal now.

Two more things. When I navigate to a tea that’s listed in my cupboard, the tea page says it isn’t there. Also, tea pages no longer say “last drank on x date” underneath “Add Tasting Note”, when it’s a tea you’ve previously tried.

Kittenna said

Teas are now appearing as in my cupboard. :)

Dinosara said

Yes, the date of last drinking is still gone (although I had noticed mine was never accurate before the update), as is the date that the tea was last updated; now it just says who last updated it, but not when they did.

Kittenna said

Before the update, the date it was showing was actually the date you first drank the tea, not the last time. It messed up the last time Steepster had a major update and wasn’t ever fixed.

Jason select said

The cupboard thing should be fixed now.

The “last drank” notice was actually removed because it was causing issues, so that shouldn’t be showing anymore. We’re planning updates for the tea page, which is also part of the reason why we dropped that.

I can’t sort my cupboard at all now. Will that functionality be restored? Also not sure if it’s mentioned elsewhere, but I can only view how many teas are in my cupboard from the dashboard. When I go to my cupboard, it just says “IN CHAROMA’S CUPBOARD” with no number displayed.

Jason select said

The sort was causing some problems so we took it out, but we’re planning to bring it back when possible.

The numbers not being shown on the cupboard and shopping list are on our list. Thanks!

Oh please please bring it back! I really rely on my virtual cupboard to stay organized. That would be really sad. :(

SSL for the site isn’t working (i think it used to, but not sure), chrome gives a huge red warning for https://steepster.com saying it’s using an incorrect certificate, Server’s certificate does not match the URL, or some such.

Mike select said

Hi sansnipple, we’ve never supported SSL, so this problem has always been present. We definitely would like to support it in the future.

I’m also not able to view my notices when clicking on the notification in my dashboard.

Dinosara said

I can view notices.

Mike select said

All notice issues should be fixed. Please let us know if you’re still seeing issues.

alice said

My notices are worked fine now. I got a lot of errors last night but everything seems much snappier now. Thanks!

I wrote a tasting note and it didn’t show up on the dashboard; when I checked the “explore” function to see all tasting notes there was actually a post that said I had drank it but not written a note. When I clicked on the “write one?” link, my text was still there, and upon clicking “save changes” the tasting note appeared on the page. But then reloading, its not showing that I wrote a tasting note (and thus it still won’t appear on the dashboard). There are a few other users with notes showing up on the tasting note page without any text on them, but it’s somewhat sporadic.

Dinosara said

Aaaand now its appearing on my dashboard, but still shows as “no notes yet” on the New Tasting Notes page.

Dinosara said

Also there are two posts by gmathis from 2 hours ago that appear under New Tasting Notes, but one appears on my dashboard and one doesn’t.

Jason select said

Dinosara, are you still having problems with this? Seems to be working properly now.

Dinosara said

Yes it does seem to be functional; I haven’t encountered problems posting tasting notes, although I did recently try to edit a rating several times on a previously posted note and it would never save the ratings change.

Jason select said

Yea, we’re looking into the ratings situation now.

Interesting – I think tasting notes are now sorting differently on the tea pages, though I can’t figure out exactly what they’re sorting by. Overall likes on all tasting notes you’ve written about a tea?

Mike select said

You’re not wrong, it’s sorting differently. Unfortunately, this wasn’t intended :( We’re looking into fixing it now! Thanks for pointing it out.

Kittenna said

I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing? Once upon a time, they sorted by each person’s “best” tasting note (most combined likes/comments), then there was an update, and they then sorted by each person’s “first” tasting note on a certain tea. Now it’s some sort of combo, which is preferable to option two, but option one was still the best IMO.

Uniquity said

I was kinda bummed to have my tasting notes demoted (from the previous update). Obviously when I first started I had very few likes or comments and some of my tasting notes got bumped way down when it started sorting but first comment. I get a weird pride out of having a highly ranked note. I need a life!

I noticed this before the update too actually. I posted another thread about it, but no one ended up commenting and now I can’t find it…anyway, I agree it is sorting them oddly.
