My new yixing pot!

I ordered this 5 days ago from Yuepeng Song at http://zishayixing.com/. It came in 5 days which pretty much blew my mind! And it’s awesome. The attention to detail in the packing and the tea pot and free yixing cups are beyond what I even imagined. Soooo happy right now. I’m using his seasoning method he wrote about on his blog (http://yixingteapot1.wordpress.com/) so I won’t get to use it for a few days, but it’ll be worth the wait.

I posted photos of the pot here:

I am so impressed with Yuepeng Song. It was definitely an investment, but I don’t regret it for a second! Check out his site!

gorgeous yixing pot!

I’m checking out the blog, I like the idea of adding tofu to the initial boil.. maybe because I like tofu http://yixingteapot1.wordpress.com/2013/07/18/yi-xing-teapot-initial-use/

That’s what I did. It looked pretty funny on the stove but I’m sure it did the trick!

Pretty!! Amazing packaging, too. Will you post pictures during/after the seasoning process?

I had already started when I posted last night but I got a few this morning. The link is below.

Yeah, the packaging was super nicely done and shipped sooooo fast. I thought I’d have to wait like a month like other times I’ve ordered from small Chinese vendors, but it got here in 5 days from the day I ordered.

I posted some pics from seasoning it here

http://tastybrewtea.blogspot.com/2013/07/seasoning-my-yixing.html?m=1

He suggested doing a low boil with all the pieces with some tofu for an hour and letting it sit all night. On his blog he said to do another round but instead of tofu use a sugar cane. I don’t have a sugar cane so I asked him if I can use sugar. He said the tofu is all I need to do, that the sugar and tofu do the same thing. So it’s all ready to go now!

Congrats TB!
I got my first yixing about a month ago, & I love it. I’m already certain that I’ll need a few more before its over with, LOL.

That’s a lovely pot! I wasn’t able to find that one, or any carved ones, on the website though.
