teaware

i’ve tried searching, but the thing that’s missing is a centralized thread about teaware. i think this will benefit the community. so, what types of tea kettles, pots, and pitchers (sharing cup), canisters, baskets, etc… that you use/wanting to get/recommend? it would be cool if you could list the places where you bought the stuff from.

i use an old school stainless steel kettle that my mom bought in lebanon a while ago. i use rishi’s brew teapot to steep the tea. what’s good about it is that it has a lot of room that allows the tea to really expand to let out all of that good stuff. i also use rishi’s tea pitcher to hold the liquid. what i’m looking for is a good yixing teapot and good tea canisters that block out air and light.

I mainly brew Japanese teas, I have a kyusu and a houhin.

I got mine from yunomi.us

I have also had a lot of success at finding really nice teaware on Yunomi.us:

They have a great selection of Japanese tea as well.

My favorite things! I wouldn’t trade these for anything…

This is plastic, so it retains flavors of most artificially flavored teas. That’s why I have a second teapot for my flavored teas…

I use this cheap little teapot for all my flavored teas. Oddly, I bought this at a Chinese restaurant when I saw them serving tea with it. They were selling them for $5! I’ve had it for almost 10 years.

+5 on that kettle. I got the same one a few months ago and it has made tea prep so much better. Pretty cheap compared to other programmable kettles, too.
