The recommend a tea thread
I’ve been wondering about good teas where rosemary is a noticeable element. There’s a Todd and Holland one I’m going to try eventually (if I ever sip down more of my stash, ee), but I don’t know of others from good companies.
We are working on a peach rosemary tea at the moment. Still needs some work, but it will probably be out in a month or two.
That sounds wonderful (peaches and rosemary, mm…makes me want to make a salad this week with those two things together)! I remember when you mentioned some of the flavors you were working on on FB I just about died, and now it’s coming back to me that rosemary was one of them. I really appreciate your willingness to create blends nobody’s tried to do before.
Oh wow, I totally want to make that salad now too with some grilled peaches, rosemary and baby kale. Oh yum!
Thanks! Experimenting with new flavors and ideas is the most fun part of my job! :)
I’m on the lookout for caffeine free dessert teas. I love black tea, but having it before bed isn’t the greatest idea.
I don’t really mind rooibos, (though its not my favorite), and I’m partial to vanilla, caramel and sugary flavored teas. Chocolate teas are alright too.
Any ideas?
Sorry Rose, it’s hard to find caramel sugary teas without rooibos. If you are willing to overlook some rooibos I would check out New Mexico Tea Co. I’ve had their Caramel Darling and it’s pretty good. This is a link to their list of sweet rooibos.

There really is a lot of dessert rooibos out there, it’s just finding a company that you like their flavors. The other option would be to look for a decaf black option, I don’t really seek those out so I can’t help point you in that direction. Hope someone else can do better than me.
We have a Chocolate Chai Decaf black tea, which would make a great dessert tea:

If you don’t mind rooibos, here are some of my favorite dessert teas:
Tiramisu http://www.mahamosa.com/teabar/en/herbal-tea/rooibos/tiramisu.html
Rooibos Bourbon (Vanilla) http://www.mahamosa.com/teabar/en/herbal-tea/rooibos/rooibos-bourbon.html
Chocolate Cream Truffle http://www.mahamosa.com/teabar/en/herbal-tea/rooibos/chocolate-cream-truffle.html
Phoenix Mills (vanilla, caramel & honey) http://www.mahamosa.com/teabar/en/herbal-tea/rooibos/phoenix-mills.html
Hope that helps!
Those do sound good. I dont mind rooibos, as in I dont actively dislike it, I just dont actively seek it out. But seeing this list, I might have to hunt some of these down. They look very tasty!
The main ones I know of are also rooibos unfortunately, probably the most caramelly tea I’ve had was Zen Tea Life’s Cream Caramel, it is soo sugary and good! I also enjoy the Lemon and Lime chiffons by Della Terra, they have quite a variety of cream rooibos teas, I would like to try some more, as they do the cream flavor quite well!
A purely herbal tea (no rooibos) that I enjoy is Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait by DavidsTea, it can get a bit tart though, but it is good both hot and cold brewed. And also from DavidsTea, if you like mapley and crazy sugary blends, I’d suggest Birthday Cake. I believe keychange was offering up some on here! It’s the most mapley smelling tea I have had yet, my boyfriend actually won’t let me drink it if he’s in the house, because he finds it too overwhelmingly maple and sweet smelling haha.
Hope some of these sound decent! Sorry most of them are rooibos, there are not many purely herbal desserty blends it seems!
Stacy, how wonderful of you! I’m really excited.
rosehips, honestly, I didn’t even know it was possible for a tea like rose violet calendula to even exist—like all my favourite smells in a drinkable form. It nearly made me cry the first time I had it.
Yes, rose scented is on my h and s list. it’s getting harder and harder not to place this order.
Its such a wonderful tea. I’m hording my rose violet calendula, as its almost too beautiful to drink (almost).
Yes, I feel exactly the same way. In fact, I refuse to drink it at places like work or when I’m in a rush, because it’s beauty simply isn’t casual. That’s a tea to worship.
If your in Toronto, I had a pretty nice and very affordable Rose Congou that I found in China Town. http://steepster.com/teas/china-arts-city/37906-organic-rose-congou. I also love the flavour of this white tea which I found at a euromax store, http://steepster.com/teas/big-active/35474-white-tea-with-rose-petals.
They also have a really nice green tea with prickly pear cactus (opuntia) that also contains rose and pineapple that make a nice combination.
If you like Jasmine green tea this one can occasionally be found online on bay and aliexpress though I bought it a Chinese grocery store near where I live. http://steepster.com/teas/sichuan-emei-shan-zhuyeqing-tea-co-ltd/36227-emei-shan-flower-mao-feng-jasmine
I loved this one because the Jasmine while strong had this wonderfully fruity fresh quality to it.
yyz, thanks for the suggestions. I’m not too far from Toronto, so will check that out for sure.
Stacy-pleeeeeeeease do!!
And if not, just be prepared for me to buy the entirety of your rose violet calendula. Like literally all of it. I should serve it at my wedding, come to think of it.
Wedding tea! That would be a wonderful thing to serve at your wedding. And it might forever be linked in your mind to that happy day. What a lovely idea.
keychange-Well, I may have already made an amazing floral tea (amazing by my tastes of course) and you may be getting a nice sized sample of it….may have.
Well, we do make personalized wedding favors. ;)
oh god… i can see where my wedding budget will go.. hey guys..come on over to the party..there’s a photographer and tea. you guys didn’t need anything else right? just put a record on giggling
Sil-Well, if you get extra fancy, you can design a custom blend for the specially designed favors. One bride even purchased extra tea to serve at the wedding and purchased special tea cups for everyone. That was a bit extravagant though.
stacy – well whenever my other half gets off his butt to propose, i’ll be in touch haha.
Thank you for being responsible for my just shrieking loud enough to get the people down the hall all panicked and thinking there was some emergency!
A happy emergency!!
omg!
…and this is why I shouldn’t be on steepster at work. My dog came over to see what the fuss was all about. If he only knew, if he only knew!
You do wedding favours?
faints
And just so I don’t continue hogging the thread, we’re helping rosehips find a dessert tea sans caffeine, preferably no rooibos, caramel and other scrumptiousness welcome.
I haven’t tried any of these but her are some vanilla fruit teas

not vanilla but it looks nice
http://theloosetea.com/product.php?id_product=50
I should have a steepsterites table at my wedding!
I’m actually serious about those wedding favours. And serving the rose violet to all the guests? like yous aid sil, when you’ve got that, do you even need anything else? djs, photographers (we blind folk think pictures are overrated!), fancy decorations. All over-shadowed by the tea.
Maybe the flowers at my wedding can be roses and violets (and calendula? I don’t know what that is) to accent/reflect the tea I’ll serve!
