Ever heard of "new tea"??

Hello all!

I’ve been lucky enough to have been passed “new tea” from a Chinese friend. I’ve completely forgotten what province she is from (though can maybe check). The tea in question was named solely new tea. It is a green tea made from buds (or very small leaves), it’s pretty green and smooth without silver hairs. The other thing is that i’ve been given strict instructions to keep it in the fridge – any ideas what it might be? Or tips on how to get the best from it? I tend to steep it for a while with water 70-80° and just top up with water as I go as it tends to not get to astringent…

Cheers!

Its probably some chinese form of shincha, or first spring tea harvest. only keep the tea in the fridge if it is unopened (to preserve freshness).
