NYC Tea Meetup Friday, October 18th @7:30pm -Harney & Sons Soho, Chari-T Event (RSVP required)
We talked about this in last month’s meet-up thread but I wanted to make a separate thread for October.
Chari-T is traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony that takes place a few times a month in three or four locations one of which is Harney & Sons Soho. All they ask is a $20 donation and every penny goes toward a Japanese Tsunami Relief Fund and Victims of Sandy. Here is additional information http://www.tea-whisk.com/Tea-Whisk/ChariT.html
I have made reservations for four. If anyone else finds they can attend please me know as soon as possible as a reservation is needed. It really shouldn’t be a problem but they do provide tea and a very light snack so a head count is needed.
I am really looking forward to this one. I will have SO much stuff saved up for you guys :)

Just making sure this thread doesn’t get lost. Also, anyone want to do dinner beforehand? I got an hour and a half to kill after work.
Fuzzy_Peachkin, still up for dinner? I can’t think of a ton of places nearby that would be good for grabbing a relatively quick bite (though I’m sure there are many) – my favorite falafel place, Taïm, is nearby if that appeals.

So it looks like there are three total confirmed for the event this Friday. Remember if you are interested in coming please call Harney and Sons Soho with a card number to solidify your $20 reservation. They seem a little confused about the event but I’m pretty sure it is the only event happening that day. There were actually other Matcha events, which caused a bit of confusion but they have all been cancelled.
Also, the store actually closes at 7pm. They ask that we get there around 7:15 to 7:30. Knock if you need to and let them know you are there for the Matcha Tea Ceremony and you should be fine. This also means that we will need to go somewhere else if we are going to swap after the ceremony. We could either swap before or after. So here we are again ladies, we need a place to swap teas. Sounds like Nicole has a lot to offload. Let’s help her out. Any ideas?
Bosie is open until 11:00 on Fridays so that might be a good bet for us
