Looking for a good black/green loose leaf sampler pack

I need to branch out! Can anyone recommend a company that offers an interesting sampler pack of loose leaf teas? Preferably it would be something that had both black and green, and quantities of each variety not too large (2oz/50g would be the most, in case I really don’t like something). Mix of flavored and non-flavored is okay too. Thanks!

You have GOT to get Den’s Tea’s sampler pack=D Adagio’s is also good, they have 2 black samplers, a flavored black sampler, and 2 green samplers. You might want to also look at companies (like Adagio, Upton, Harney & Sons, and Tea Frog) that let you buy samples individually. Golden moon also has $1 samples… but they also have $19 sampler of all 31 of their teas!=D Here’s another thread that may be helpful: http://steepster.com/discuss/564-online-tea-shops-with-sample-sizes

Great link to Golden Moon – thanks for that and the reference to Den’s Teas. Never heard of them before.

I did Adagio a few years ago and had a real hit/miss relationship with their teas. Some were fantastic – I particularly remember a great Sencha of theirs – others were not worth the shelf space, at all. Love their little Ingenui-T brewer though!

Yeah I’ve personally had good luck w/ Adagio’s greens, whites, some oolongs, and all jasmines. Not a black tea drinker other than chai so you don’t want my opinion of them lol. A few of their black flavoreds are good (especially cream, sweet potatoe pie, and sesame). Love all their savory teas:)

Another company with good samplers is EnjoyingTea.com. They have a sampler set for nearly everything you could think of and then some. Except pu’erh. http://www.enjoyingtea.com/teasampler.html

Boo- no pu erh! They also don’t have a chai sampler. But… Jenn-cha reminds me Life In a Tea Cup has VERY good samplers. I got the 4 sheng $9.99 sampler. Bana Tea Co also has a 8 pu erh (7g each) sampler for $10.

Uh-oh, I can tell I’m definitely going to blow my tea budget for the month…

Budget? What’s that funny lookin word? Is it French?

You didn’t look hard enough, Cofftea XD It’s the third down on the right. I love the Bangalore Rose and the Lemongrass chais <3

The Lemongrass Chai is also in their free sample section http://www.enjoyingtea.com/fre18lblicbl.html

Life in Teacup doesn’t have a green tea sampler set, but the pick-any-three sampler has several greens to choose from:

Thank you for mentioning it. I put up a green tea sample set last weekend. Some more green and black teas are included in the free sample list :D

I really love the great variety in your sampler packs! It’s very satisfying to my “but I must try them all!” impulses! :)

Other places that have individaul samples or set samplers for sale or provide an option for free samples if you’re ordering tea: Samovar, Harney & Sons, Todd & Holland, American Tea Room, The Necessiteas, The Tea Table, TeaFrog, Silk Road Teas, SpecialTeas, Norbu Tea, The Tao of Tea… I’m sure I’m missing some but these are some of the companies I’ve purchased samples from.

Whoa! Thank goodness for the Steepster tea tasting notes feature, otherwise I’d be afraid of losing track of all the different kinds of tea I’ll be sampling in the months to come.
