Making chocolate cake with tea...

I need to make some sort of chocolate dish for a school project. Does anyone have good recipes for chocolate cake that use tea? Needs to be something I can make from scratch and needs chocolate decorations.

It’s my go-to “fancy” chocolate cake recipe, although I usually just eat it plain. It would be good with a ganache glaze and some fancy-pants hardened chocolate swirls or something, though.

I love shutterbean! :) I used to be really into baking blogs, and I’ve always been obsessed with that one.

That’s about the same EG cake recipe I have. It is phenomenal.

I’m a professional baker, and I can vouch for this recipe being totally delicious:

It calls for 1 c. boiling water, but you could easily substitute that for a cup of strong brewed tea. :)

You could also infuse melted butter with tea for your frosting. Melt some butter, add some tea, and keep warm over low heat until the butter takes on the flavor of the tea. Then strain the tea out. Refrigerate the butter until it is hard enough to blend with confectioners sugar to make your frosting.

Oh, that sounds yummy! Though I am a chocoholic :)

I have not tried this with tea steeped in the water, but the cake recipe itself is not lying in calling itself the “Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever.”

I am severe chocoholic – the darker the better – and this is my all time favorite chocolate cake. Moist, tender, buttery and deeply chocolate. Makes amazing cupcakes as well.

Not chocolate cake but brownies… dairy free ones at that.
