Placing my first Butiki order, and I'd love some input on what to get!

I’m going to be placing my first Butiki order in the next few days and was hoping for some feedback. After reading the reviews on so many of their teas, I’ve got a wish list made up … but I’m not sure what to get. I’d like to get about five of their teas to try, as my cupboard is pretty full at the moment (and my fiance will be less than pleased if I get more tea than I can drink up!). I know I want to get some of the Creamy Eggnog and the Vanilla Frosted Carrot Cake. The others I’m interested in are:

Blueberry Purple Tea
Apricot Guayusa
Peppermint Patty
Raspberry Truffle
Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat
Caramel Vanilla Assam
Pumpkin Milkshake
Maple Pecan Oolong
Cantaloupe & Cream
With Open Eyes
Three Friends
Coconut Crème Pie

Any recommendations of this list? Any must-try’s in a first order? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

It’s really hard to go wrong with Butiki. But of the ones you listed I probably like the Maple Pecan Oolong and Three Friends best.

Also throwing out there that you can also request two samples of whatever you choose not to get, so it’s an all around win. :)

Of the teas in your list, I can vouch for the cantaloupe and cream. It is exactly as it sounds.

Hello! I hope you don’t mind me adding my opinion.

The Vanilla Frosted Carrot Cake & Creamy Eggnog are great choices!

From your list my personal favorites are: Caramel Vanilla Assam, Maple Pecan Oolong, Cantaloupe & Cream, With Open Eyes, and Coconut Cream Pie. I would say, skip the Apricot Guayusa. If you are interested in a guayusa, my favorite is Good Morning Sunshine. It’s a creamy lemon and it works perfectly with the base tea and is just fantastic in the morning. Also, the Cider Guayusa is pretty awesome. The raspberry and blueberry are probably my least favorite on your list, though I do love them. Some of my absolute favorites that aren’t on your list are: Flowery Pineapple Oolong, Champagne & Rose Cream, So Long, and Thanks for All the Licorice (licorice chai), and Potato Pancake & Applesauce.

Also, we just completed a tasty Rhubarb & Vanilla Ale (beer tea). It’s not on our website yet but feel free to request a sample.

From your list, my favourites are definitely the caramel vanilla assam and the cantaloupe and cream (which was my first butiki love, and what I’m craving at the moment). I can all but guarantee you’ll love them! enjoy!

Cantaloupe and Cream was my first Butiki love too, hee. I can still remember everything about the first time I drank it—the weather, what time of year it was, how my husband was standing in the kitchen with me. So funny.

Of your list, my favorites are With Open Eyes (vibrant taste of jam and toffee, not to be missed!) and Cantaloupe and Cream (powerful aroma, subtle taste but dead-on accurate, transports me right to summer). The Caramel Vanilla Assam is also yummy, a nice rounded cup. I also highly recommend Flowery Pineapple Oolong (like an insta-trip to a relaxing island for stressful dreary days, and normally I’m not that into the tropical stuff but it’s just so good here). Others I’m crazy for but realize are a little more unconventional/not necessarily to everyone’s tastes include 2003 Reserve Four Season Oolong, Potato Pancakes and Applesauce, and The Black Lotus. For dessert-y things I’m a fan of the newly revamped Coconut Cream Pie Rooibos (I love the graham cracker crust element the rooibos gives, and the lingering aftertaste of coconut and fresh whipped cream) and Pumpkin Milkshake (it’s hard to find pumpkin flavored things where fall spices don’t overwhelm the plain taste of pumpkin, and this one delivers on that front), but there are so many options to suit all kinds of tastes there. I hope whatever you get you love your teas!

I haven’t had many of the teas on your list, but my personal faves of the ones I have tried from Butiki are Ruby Pie and Taiwanese Assam – I preferred the unaltered base to the Caramel Vanilla Assam you mentioned.

The peppermint patty is pretty good if you’re a mint fan, but you can find other similar teas elsewhere – if in doubt, I suggest you go for something you can’t get anywhere else. :)

Blueberry purple isn’t like atypical blueberry tea if that’s what you’re after, as a warning, thought do enjoy it.

I’d echo stacy’s comments in terms of teas to get…though I guess my first question to you would be what sorts of teas do you like best?

I started drinking tea as a way to replace dessert. So, I love blends and I love sweet teas that don’t require any sugar or milk. My favorite tea is Lime Gelato from DAVIDsTEA because its smells like it tastes (sweet and fruity) without my having to doctor it up. I’ve had a lot of disappointment with teas that have amazing names they don’t live up to in the taste department. So, when I saw all the reviews saying how flavorful Butiki teas are, I was like “lightbulb!”
I’d love some good dessert teas. Something that will take the edge off my sweet tooth, and has a taste similar to its namesake. Since its fall, I’m in a pie/cake/cookie mood.

Fall mood, I’d say go with caramel Assam, the peppermint patty is inexpensive and nice as a non caffeine option instead of the usual blackteabase, I’m slightly biased since it’s my tea but I love How stacyhas created ruby pie, maple pecan oolong, any of he the pumpkin teas…foxy roxy…. Heh I’m a bit ofa butiki fan girl heh

If youwantfruityteas – flowery pineapple oolong, cantaloupe and cream…

Yes! Ruby Pie is the best! I can’t live without it anymore haha.

That makes me happy Courtney ;)

Lime gelato was your favorite?!?! We must be tea soul mates! That’s by far my favorite from David’s!

I know this isn’t on your list but my favorite… Watermelon xylophone is my favorite from butiki:)

If you’re into the lime gelato, maybe try Della Terra’s Lime Chiffon (after your Butiki order, of course).

I currently have that in my stash just haven’t opened it. I’ve had it since August ha ha

Cantaloupe & Cream and Pumpkin Milkshake are both delicious. Foxy Roxy’s is also pretty tasty. Haha just order everything, Butiki is so amazing.

I have two cups worth of Blueberry Purple if you don’t end up ordering it :)

I would love that! I’d trade you something from my stash in exchange, if you’re interested. I have some stuff from local tea shop in addition to all the DAVIDsTEA packages. :-)

Sure that sounds great :) I’m following you now, follow me and I’ll send you a message!

Done! I’ll make a list of the local stuff I have and send it over to you. :-)

So far, I’ve oolong tried the Maple Pecan oolong. It’s really good.

I’d have to toss my vote in for the Caramel Vanilla Assam. I absolutely adore that tea. It’s pretty much the only tea I drink without adding sweetener to, or I add just a teeny tiny bit to make it that much more delicious.
Cantaloupe & Cream, while not really my thing because I’m not big on white teas, is definitely one I’d say would be good to try. It’s just like drinking the juice from a piece of cantaloupe. Sure surprised the heck out of me when I first tasted it. Lol.

Cantaloupe and Cream sounds perfect and seems to be an overwhelming favorite. Definitely going on the list, thanks!

ironically, cantaloupe and cream is the one I like the least on that list! (except coconut pie I’ve never tried as I don’t like coconut). No one in my entire family liked it either, so its not just me and my un-trendy taste buds. lol. There must be something genetic in sense of taste. . .:p
