I’ve dealt with Simple Loose Leaf http://www.simplelooseleaf.com/
What I found interesting with them is you can choose the teas you want and it’s a good deal when you get 6 months worth of tea and it can be 6 different teas. (here’s my review of one of their teas http://oolongowl.com/raspberry-vanilla-mint-green-tea-simple-loose-leaf-oolong-owl-tea-review/ )

52 Teas also does tea of the month (or week) http://www.zoomdweebies.com/Subscriptions_c_23.html if you love fun tea blends you’ll like their teas. I haven’t done his tea of the month/week, but I often buy his teas.

Other tea clubs that looked really cool, that I havent tried but I’m sure others at Steepster have is: Verdant, Amoda, and Handmade Tea.

Verdant currently has two tea of the month clubs: The classic one and the blend one. Here’s a link to info about the classic:
http://verdanttea.com/teas/tea-of-the-month-club/?

And here’s one to the blends:
http://verdanttea.com/teas/tea-blend-of-the-month-club/?

However, if you are new to Verdant, I highly recommend their 5 teas for $5 samples for new visitors, you get a chance to sample a variety of their teas and that might help you decide if you want to commit to a monthly club. Here’s a link:

Hope this helps a bit, I really like Verdant in terms of their teas and service, both are stellar! :)

I had the Amoda box for a few months, and I think it’s a nice cheap one if you want to get started trying new (flavoured) teas and discovering companies that you’d like to order from at a later date.

They’re a Canadian company, but it’s $12/month for anywhere in North America. http://www.amodatea.com/pages/subscribe.php

This looks like fun. I like that you get samples of three different teas, I also like that they are sending tea from other companies.
Did you like the teas they were choosing? Decent quality?

i enjoyed it the few months i had it. My only problem is that i was using it to try different companies but then i just started buying all sort of teas from everywhere and sharing orders and stuff to get smaller quantities so i stopped needing a box to help me accomplish the goal of trying new things from everywhere. But they do have excellent customer service and they ship it in a box that fits in the mail slots! yay!

I had it for 4 months, and that was enough for me. They gave me a range of teas that I might not have tried otherwise, but the downside is some of those I would never have picked on my own. They’ve revamped the program a bit, and I think they are giving smaller samples so that the focus is on trying tea and not ending up with a lot of it in your cupboard. It was mostly flavoured tea when I did it though, so keep that in mind if you were looking to try unflavored teas as well.

@ Sil~ good customer service is worth a lot…
@ Cavocorax~ I like flavored and unflavored teas…
generally I love a spot of wonderful honey in the unflavored teas ;-)

Thanks so much…I signed up for my first subscription with Amoda now.
Are their teas good? I should get my first box the second week of December :-)

they source their teas from different companies so there will be variety for you :)

Exciting! I hope you like what you get! At least you can cancel anytime, and for $12 it’s not that big of a deal if you don’t care for one of them so long as there’s something good in there you enjoy.

Those are both good points.
Thanks for the advice :-)

I also decided to go with the monthly “blend” club from Verdant @$17/ month
With both clubs I should get quite a variety, and I can stop either one at any time.
I am thinking about doing both for a year, but I may change my mind before then.
At least they both give the option to stop at any time.

So far I am impressed with the blend one :) I really liked 2 of the three teas from the Oct box, and I like how unique they are so far! Hope you enjoy them as well! Amoda looks pretty interesting too..I might have to look into that one too, pretty reasonable cost and good variety!

Thanks Miss Lena~ good to hear of someone really enjoying Verdant’s Blend Club.
I couldn’t figure out how to do the club associated with Loose Leaf,
BUT…I love that they sell so many samples at affordable prices.
I will definitely be checking out many of their flavors ;-)

Good plan!! I love their teas! One of my favorite vendors :)

I have done Teavana’s Blissful Moments tea of the month club before. It was good because every month you go two teas that could be drank separately or blended together. The drawbacks were that blissful moments was supposed to be caffeine free herbals but there was a lot of white and green teas sent. Also there were some repeats of teas.

I am currently doing handmade tea’s tea of the month club. I really like the teas. the only draw back is shipping is slow to Canada but it is worth the wait. Also with handmade tea, the tea’s are only made once and not reblended so if you like a tea you cannot purchase more of it.

CelebriTEA said

Lala,
Handmade Teas sounds like a wonderful club.
I you cannot purchase more of a favored tea, will they give you the recipe?
I think losing out on a fabulous blend might lead to tears for me…lol…

Lala said

I have never asked for a recipe. Most tea purveyors do not give out their recipes so I just assume the answer would be no. Although you already know the ingredients and would just have to figure out the measurements.

CelebriTEA said

Gotcha!
I simply don’t understand why they wouldn’t continue a successful brew ?

check out the site for more info. http://handmadetea.com/

I can’t speak for Caleb at Handmade Tea, but I think the tea companies that have only small amount of tea for sale for a short periof of time do it because it is exclusive. Its something that you can get that is in limited quantities – therefore making it more desirable. Also a lot of these companies, like Handmade Tea and 52 teas, base their business on a new tea every week/month, etc. Because they are small companies it may not be feasible to be reblending prev flavours all the time. Its a new tea every month, not an old tea all the time.

Thanks for the link Layla.
I appreciate you encouraging me to learn
and also helping me to understand certain processes.
I am going to have to keep on eye on that site because
although I can’t afford three clubs, I feel sure this may be something
I will want to consider in the future.
Thanks so much for enlightening me :-)

For tea of the month clubs I would expect that the shipping on a monthly basis might add up which would add to the cost of the program?

In the past when I wanted to do a tea of the month club I often found myself wanting another tea along with the one being sent but was unable to just add it into shipping.

That would be a cool idea, maybe you pick the 6,12 whatever teas you want each month then have the ability to add to the order up to a week before?

The handmadeteas site looks nice though I will want to check them out for sure :) I just love the week around when you are supposed to be getting your new tea and waiting for the mail to come to see if it is the day you get new tea.
