After boiling my yixing in a clean pot with filtered water i noticedsome small parts on it had a slight chalkyness to it. Is this normal? is it just dust coming out of its pores?

Is it a Yixing pot, or is it just an unglazed clay pot? Either way, this isn’t something I’ve seen. Now, some pots will have a sort of dusty look to them at first. Nothing that would wipe off though – just a dull finish. Is this what you’re seeing? Or, are you seeing something that you could wipe off or scrape off with a fingernail?

If it is the latter, I would be concerned about using it, not knowing what the substance is.
