I’ve tried a lot of Keemun teas. Upton has a few that I like quite a bit (zk25 is the first that comes to mind).

Thanks! Any others?

Someone mentioned teavivre’s, which is pretty good. My first Keemun was Adagio concerto. While not my all-time favorite, I drank it every day for a month or two as an evening staple. I remember it being “different” from the others I’ve tried, might be worth a shot getting that and the other Keemun samples from that company for anyone exploring this type of tea.

Yay! A Keemun thread! That is what I came looking for. Keemun is my very favorite variety of tea, closely followed by good oolongs. I’m going to go do tasting notes on these two Keemuns in just a minute. Two I like a LOT:

Imperial Keemun Hao Ya and Imperial Keemun Mao Feng

I look forward to your comparison.

My favourite (at least from what I have tried so far) has to be the Organic Superfine Keemun Fragrant Black Tea from Teavivre. It makes a great morning tea :)

My second was Keemun Orchid from Tea Horse but they have recently closed down :(

Have you tried the Organic Superfine Keemun from Teavivre looseTman?

looseTman said

No, not yet. I’ve added it to my wishlist.

However, I’ve enjoyed a total of 1,700 g of Teavivre’s Premium Keemun Hao Ya. Steepster currently rates it as 87 and the more expensive Organic Superfine Keemun Fragrant as 86. How would you compare these two Keemun?

I would be happy to send you some :)

KittyLovesTea, that’s very sweet of you! However, UK to USA shipping must cost more than from within the US.

I get half price shipping overseas :) I send it through my mothers company (with her approval of course) so it is franked with her items, the more she sends the cheaper it is per month. Averages out to half price of what it would cost me from a post office. So my offer still stands.

That’s very kind of you! Whenever is convenient and you can receive the greatest shipping discount, that would be great! Thank you!! :-)

Had to look at my ratings, at this time my favorite is: Keemun Mao Feng Organic by The Steeping Room.

Does The Steeping Room source their Keemun Mao Feng Organic from International Tea Importers (ITI)? http://www.teavendor.com/

@Rumpus Parable – I LOVE that Keemun, it is almost a daily drinker for me.

@Tman – I will post a note about the Imperial later this week. I received a sample of the Teavivre Organic Superfine Keemun and Harney Keemun Treasures today which I am really really looking forward to and will post on those as well.

Decidedly did not like the Imperial. I posted a note on it. I will try the Tevivre Superfine Keemun today (I’m really looking forward to this!)

Sadly, I did not really like the Tevivre Superfine Keemun. It didn’t taste very “Keemun-y” to me at all. I thought it lacked depth and character. Which makes me sad as I was really looking forward to it. Have enough for another go, maybe I will like it more. So far, my favorite is Keemun Mao Feng Organic by The Steeping Room.

Did you prepare this Keemun as recommended by TeaVivre?

Did your TeaVivre Superfine Keemun sample packet recommend 194℉ (last year’s harvest) or 176℉ (current year)?

MzPriss said

the 2013 176

looseTman said

Which Teavivre western brewing recommendation did you use?
– 8 oz. / 7 g / 194℉ / Rinse 1, 2, 3 min.
– 17oz / 6 g / 176℉ / 2-5 min.

I did the larger cup for 5 minutes.

This morning I tried the Keemun Treasures from Harney & Sons. I liked it, though it will never be my favorite. It is lighter and less full bodied than most keemun, but the flavor profile was nice. I could see it as a nice afternoon tea. Not a lot of smoke, but nice.

SimplyJenW said

I feel about the same about it. Glad I tried it, but it will not make the favorites list.
