What is the right amount of tea?

Im relatively new to tea and I just bought myself a small 200ml pot but Im not sure what is the right amount of tea. I tend to brew gongfu style and i really enjoy the teavana monkey oolong i just picked up, but its a bit pricey and i don’t want to waste it. thanks for the help :)

I tend to use roughly 5g of tea for my 200ml Gongfu teapot. If the tea store doesn’t have a recommended weight and steeping guide then I usually refer to those from the Teavivre website. I find their measurements and times suit me very well.

For Teavivre’s Monkey Picked Oolong they recommend the following:

Water : 3oz / 85ml 212℉ / 100℃
Use 7 Grams Tea
7 steeps : rinse,25s,35s,45s,55s,65s,75s,85s
Rinsing time is around 5 seconds

So if you round it up to 100ml you can use 7g of tea and only half the volume of your teapot. You can always increase the tea or water volume and see which you prefer the taste of. :)

I use about 4-6 grams per 100 mL of water..so 8-12 grams per 200 mL.
