Chipped ForLife Curve Mug - looking for replacement suggestions
I have loved my ForLife Curve mug – 16oz with a large infuser basket. I actually have one at home and one at work. The one I have at home recently chipped, right where I would drink from if I hold the mug in my left hand, so about 35-40% of the time. Very disappointing.
I’m trying to decide what to replace it with. Should I get another one of these, or one of their clear ones so I can really see the tea? Or is there a different brand that people like better? Or is there something else that people suggest in general?
I’m pretty new to trying different teas. I’ve found the Curve mug has worked well for me in general, but as I’m growing in teas, I’m willing to grow in my teaware. (I did by a gaiwan to try it, but that’s just not something I would use most of the time.)
I am a huge fan of the ForLife mug. I personally would just get another one. (I actually got rid of my regular mugs and have about 6. I have given a few of the infusers away as gifts.)

Some of my mugs I picked up at Amazon. Every once in a while, they have one that must be a return or damaged box or something. I have gotten at least two of mine around $12.
Not sure of the brand on this one but I have it and LOVE it! I think it might be the one you’re taking about? It steeps tea wonderfully.

Similar but different.
That looks very similar to DavidsTea’s Perfect Mugs. I believe those are only 12oz, but they do have a Nordic mug style which is 16oz I believe. They have a variety of different styles and come out with new seasonal/collections every couple months. (I think. Don’t quote me on that. Lol.)
I am kind of surprised you got a chip. At least one of my mugs is over 3 years old, and the newest are over a year. I have not had issues with any of the parts breaking or chipping. The only noticeable wear is a circle of metal on ceramic where I stir the tea in the cup on the white mugs. (I have 2 red, a marine, 2 white, and a mandarin.) I only ever wash them in the dishwasher.
I was quite surprised, too. I have multiple of these mugs. I don’t eve know how mine got chipped. I just went to drink from it and noticed the chip. Very disappointing.
I thought I’d ask if other people had mugs they recommended, but I think I’m going to just order another one.
The teapots in this line are great, too. I have 2 of the 24 oz ones. (One for plain black tea, the other for flavors…..yes, I am a little obsessive.) I also like it that everything is essentially interchangeable.
I don’t have the teapots yet. I’m generally the only one drinking, so just in the mug is fine for me. I’ve thought about getting one, though.
I am the only one that drinks tea here….but the 24oz pot is 2 mugfuls….and I drink fast. :)
At work, a big mug is easier to deal with than a mug and a teapot. At home, I will probably eventually upgrade to the teapot at some point. For now, I think I’ll stick with the mug – although I’m going to try the glass version of the mug so I can see the colors of my tea better.
I love the ForLife teaware I have so far. I just got the Mist ice tea pitcher. I’m using that for cold steeping and it’s been great. (I may have to get two because my husband is talking about taking it and trying it with fruits and the like…)
FWIW, we have the ForLife Curve mug in all colors except Grey, which I always thought wasn’t a very attractive color.

It’s a hugely popular mug. If you like it, I’d stick with the same one.
In the end, I wound up going with the ForLife NewLeaf, which is the same size and shape, but it’s clear. I’m still not sure how I feel about it. It’s lighter in weight, but I like that can I see the color of my tea better.
It’s still up in the air.
If I were to do it again, I might go with the Curve. It is a really nice mug, with a good weight to it, and I just like it.
I understand the appeal of glass. For me, once that has worn off, I’m bothered by how easily they break. Sometimes I think glass almost wants to jump out of your hand. I’m only kind of joking about that. I can use a ceramic mug for years, but it seems like the third time I use a glass one, it ends up getting broken one way or another.
I worry about that, too. Hopefully, I won’t break it and it’ll be fine. It’s my home/weekend mug. (Of course, that is the one that I somehow chipped. No clue how it happened.) I really miss the weight, though, so we’ll see how long I deal with that aspect of things. I love the shape and size, and the infuser basket is awesome.
