Random question….I’m at the bottom end of the list….will the “fresh teas” still be fresh in about 15 weeks? (give or take a few weeks depending on how quickly folks send the box along) Or should we expect something different from the tasting?

Well, they won’t taste as fresh but they will still be very good.

I’m sure Stacy can answer this better, but I don’t know that all of them are “fresh” anyway, I was under the impression that many of the teas are things from other companies that have been hanging around, mixed with some new ones.

donkeytiara was referring to the comment I made about a few of the teas that were harvested earlier this month. I did try to send the better of the teas. Most of these are direct from source but there are still several that are from pretty much a variety of places. I tried to send mostly newer teas, though several of them I’m just not sure about the dates.

Glad to k ow it is on its way…not sure who Stephanie is, but wouldn’t it
make a little more sense to put all 3 Indiana people together?
Sorry if this is an inappropriate question.

I put a note about it above, I’m handing it to her in person, then the box is going east to west.

Ah, I see…just a question
No problem with whatever you choose :-)

Not sure what Amanda and Megan would think, but it might make more sense to switch the box order for the MO folks as well. Maybe:

Megan
Amanda Wilson
TeaTiff

Works for me! Maybe you guys could hand it off to each other.

I am ok with switching around. Handing it off could be doable, my transportation is kinda wonky though so we would have to see when it gets closer :)

I am fully mobile and willing to accommodate with transportation. We will have to see how things look when the time is closer.

Okie dokie! :)

Maybe I should have just randomized it like the other box.

;) I am also ok with that (is moderately easy to please)

At times, it can make a significant difference in postage if someone is nearby. I just received a box from NY that cost $10 to ship to MA, then cost $17 to ship to Mississippi. This doesn’t matter with flat rate, but for short distances, flat rate is more expensive.

That’s why I did it the way I did instead of random, originally I was going to just email it to the furthest east person and then let it take little hops across the country. Then Steph and I found out we are really close and I moved her up so we can meet, but it was still the same idea. It seemed that it would be more cost effective for everyone and also make the box spend less time in transit this way.

Thanks for organizing this Marzipan. I didn’t mean to complicate things too much. The nerdy efficient engineer in me just squeaked out for a moment. I think any order would work well.

Yes, thanks for organizing this…so looking forward to it.

Thank you for organizing this. I can’t wait to hear about everyone’s tastings.

It’s supposed to be here today!

Posted this is in the first box thread but figured I would leave this here as well. Short introductory article on tea cupping/tea tasting for anyone interested. http://butikiteas.blogspot.com/2014/04/a-beginners-guide-to-tasting-teas.html (has a sample of worksheets we hand out at our tastings)

Also, if anyone is interested in trying to find common notes within a terroir, I highly recommend trying a variety of teas from Kenya. Personally, Kenya teas have a very distinct, unmistakable flavor that make them instantly recognizable.

Sounds very interesting
The But ii Tea Tasting Handout is really nice
I am going to try and print some off later and
try to utilize it for better tea tasting notes on my behalf…
plenty of room for growth and learning.

CelebriTea-If you like, email me ([email protected]) and I will send you either the word document or pdf (your choice), so that it is easier to print. I also sent a few of the handouts in the box for anyone to take.

CelebriTEA said

Yay!
Maybe I will get one out of the box OR…
I may send in a new order soon and request
one with my order?

Absolutely. It’s really no trouble if you would like me to email you the file though.

This box….jaw hits the floor. Wow. So much tea!

Stacy would it hurt anything if I put the bagged teas of a type into a larger zip loc bag? (Oolong, black, etc)

wowieeeeeee! I only drink blacks currently, so all you folks that come before me, make sure you drink lots of the non-blacks…don’t save them for me!! :) That looks fabulous!!!! Stacy, you are mucho generous!!!

There are quite a few blacks, and big portions of them, I think there will be a lot left. There are tons of darjeelings and greens and oolongs. A few purples (3), handful of whites and puerhs.

Marzipan-Absolutely, organize it however you like.

donkeytiara-If you would like to expand a little bit, you might consider trying highly oxidized oolongs, Kenyan or Indian White teas, or Japanese Puerh, which have some similar notes as black teas and in some cases even some malt notes. Thanks! :)

Yay!!!
So excited :-)

Lol. That was just about the reaction I had when I opened the box Stacy sent me. XD
And I did the same thing with organizing by type. Seemed like it would make it easier to find everything.
