The flavor I never thought I would like in tea, but I do, is:

Mint. I used to think I hated mint in teas, but I think it was more the tea base and flavour pairings. Now, I looooove mint tea.
And blueberry. I hate blueberry muffins and yogurt, so I didn’t expect to adore it in tea :)

Bacon in tea. Autumn Breakfast from Della Terra, anyone?!

Rose. I used to hate the way rose tea smelled and tasted. Now I enjoy it. Actually any highly floral tea used to rub me the wrong way, but I like them and even crave them from time to time.

Raspberry! There are soo many bad synthetic raspberry scents/flavors out there I’ve run into, I never thought I’d want anything with raspberry in it again. Not to mention that yucky bottled raspberry tea- blah. But I found some great raspberry tea flavors that I love! Opposite KS though, I haven’t had a strawberry cup that’s WOW’d me yet.

It would have to be vegetal notes in tea in general. I never thought that could be considered tasty by me – all that asparagus, green beans and grass :D But I do love it in oolongs and greens.

Same! I was just enjoyed a very pea-flavored green tea the other day and thought that if someone had told me that this tea was going to taste like peas, I probably would’ve never even tried it!

What was the pea-flavored tea? Sounds interesting.

Chili pepper. Not unusual in chai teas, but I had some in a smoked tea, a Lapsang blend, and really liked it.

Smoke! When I first tried smoked black teas when I was going to school in the UK, I thought smoked teas would be something I could never understand (in fact, true confession time: at that time in middle school, I would pour in as much milk into my cup as I though I could without being rude). Even as I started to fall head over heels for tea later on, I just wasn’t sure about smokey teas. And now look at me! Smoked Wuyi Black tea in my cup at least once a week all winter long. Li Xiangxi and her parents have turned me from a skeptic to a true believer.

That’s one of the wonderful things about tea – there’s something beautiful to be found in every cup. And if you keep sipping with an open mind, you can suddenly find yourself blown away and falling in love with something new, like a bolt from the blue.

Well put!

Spinach – I don’t usually use tea bags, but I got a sample bag from Numi of their Spinach Chive Savory Tea. I really liked it. Bizarre!

I wasn’t a big fan of the Spanich Chive, but the Broccoli Cilantro? Yum!

Fresh upturned soil – A few of my favorite shou have this note to them and I absolutely love it.
Rocks – Some of the Yancha that I enjoy thoroughly remind me a bit of what licking a rock tasted like as a child… :p

Haha! I sniffed a shou recently that smelled just like fresh horse dung. I found myself saying “oh I bet that’s good!”
